A must visit if you are a One Piece fan!!! Located conveniently right outside Aso station, God Usopp stands proudly declaring to the world that he will become a brave warrior of the sea. If you are driving, the station is also a michi-no-eki and there is plenty of parking available. Don't forget to purchase your figurine and collect your commemorative card in store, run by a friendly French couple who were also conducting a survey to find out where we were from. Usopp was actually the last stop for our pilgrimage as we were heading up to Kurokawa onsen. It might be a bit crowded but stay and chat with the other fans. There were a lot of visitors at the nearby station shops, but when I went to take a photo of the statue, there were only a few people waiting, so I didn’t have to queue long. I didn’t take a photo with him, but just seeing Usopp there — bold pose, full character energy — made the stop feel special.
Set against the backdrop of Mt. Aso, the statue brings a fun contrast to the peaceful countryside. Whether you’re a One Piece fan or not, it’s a cool little surprise that adds personality to the station.
