Date of visit: 6 May 2023 Time : 1 pm From the Visitor center, itโ€™s just a short walk across the bridge and then a short climb up this hill to reach the observatory platform. The area is relatively empty perhaps due to the cold weather. The lake looks foggy and dreamy on this day.

The Shitsuko Lake Observatory is very small, like a wooden hut. It is disappointing that the lake and the mountains are hidden by trees and can not be seen well. However, it is worth seeing forest roads and deer near the Shitsuko Lake Hot Spring Hotel

On May 9, 2025, my wife and I came. But the observatory doesnโ€™t offer any clear view of the lake. There is however a path leading to the lake front; and we took the challenge and explored the lakeโ€™s neighborhood happily.

I wish I can rate 5 for this place but we didn't have the chance to explore more of this area due to string wind and light rain. We did dropped by and took photo at the observatory deck. Didn't do much. Just stroll a bit. Fyi, there were toilets and free parking if you're...
