Ok so today I am going to review the Enoshima Aquarium in Fujiwara city, Kanagawa province, Japan. I highly recommend everyone who travel to Japan to visit this aquarium. It is very suitable for people who want to leave the noise of Tokyo behind for other more peaceful provinces that are not far from the capital. First and foremost, the location of this aquarium is gorgeous. It locates at the beach of Enoshima and the views of it and the Enoshima island are beautiful sceneries. For the aquarium itself, this place is quite huge, it is actually larger than most of the aquarium in my country. This aquarium is know for its Jellyfish tanks. Right out of the Enoshima train station, there is a jellyfish tank to promote the aquarium. There is a lot of fish species here, mostly from the sea of Japan. There are so many animal I have never seen before, and I visit a lot of aquariums. I love the tide pool area. They have fake tide to emulate the real environment. I also love the deep sea area. Aquariums in Japan are known to have special tanks dedicated to house deep sea animals. There are also some deep sea taxidermies, One thing I don’t really see in aquarium in my country is that there is an area dedicated to the oceanography of Japan. The ice cream is very delicious, and I also love the sea animal theme food, like the seal soft cream is a sesame flavour. The animal bun is also very cute. One downside of this place that I can think of is that there are hawks flying everywhere, and they are ready to attack and steal your food NO KIDDING!! I saw a lady got her bento lunch stole by the hawks with my own eyes. They are very dangerous so be careful. Overall, I will give the Enoshima aquarium 9/10. Minus the hawks, I can’t recommend this place enough. It is very very good and the city around it is gorgeous. So be sure to check this place out when you visit...
Read moreA place full of preschool children and young couples. Perhaps it's because of I visited there during summer holiday.A place let people think, are aquariums really educational? There are staffs trying to give visitors information, not floor guide or fish info, but the dolphin show schedule. There are diving shows, where the aquarium diver dive into the biggest tank. But, I saw sick fishes and injured fishes, with holes on there body while other fishes from the same species don't have. The description about fishes are terrible, first of all, most descriptions about the animals are in Japanese only, thanks god I can read that. For a specie of jellyfish, the description was "they swim elegantly, like clothes of fairy", but no information about what they eat, how deep and which sea did they come from...etc. No scientific information. There are also labels such as "family of sea anemone" "a kind of crab", obviously that is a crab, but you should tell me the visitor, what is the name of THIS crab. Instead of spending your power and money on training dolphins and advertising the emperor, you should really take more care about the science and the fish health. The is the worst aquarium I had ever visited, I visit aquariums every time when I go to a new place and this is the worst among the American aquariums, British aquariums, Chinese aquariums and other Japanese aquariums I had ever...
