Location shielded by Enoshima Island. it’s the perfectly convenient beach getaway for those needing to escape during the sweltering summer months. The wide and shallow coast of Katase Higashihama has incredibly calm waves, making it great for paddling, and the perfect spot for not so confident swimmers and families with young children. While bobbing around in the calm water, have a good look around the area because on a clear sunny day you can actually see the neighboring Mount Fuji and even the Izu Peninsula! The jewel in the crown of this collection of beaches is arguably Katase Beach, which includes Higashihama Beach to its east and Nishihama Beach to the west. Katase Higashihama Beach has a rich and culturally diverse history as being one of the first western style swimming beaches in Japan

Pretty wide and big beach, water was not the clearest but it was doable, water temperature was very nice though, not too hot or too cold. You should bring parasol, sandals and such so that the sun and the sand not burning you, if you don’t have one you can rent them at the beach huts everywhere along the beach. You also need to use the restaurant’s or shop’s service (eating or drinking or resting) to have a shower. Sand was piping hot during peak summertime daytime, but I figure in other seasons it would not be, so you can take a nice troll along the shore during other seasons anytime of the day. Or in summer but after sunset, you get the idea.

Very quite beach to visit. There were alot of people doing water activities such as sailing, kite boarding and surfing. It was very cool to watch them all. The sand was nice and soft, the water was pretty clear but didn't get a chance to swim. There are two sides to the beach seperated by a bridge, so there is plenty of space for when it gets crowded. Very nice beach town with a lot of attractions near by, and reasonably priced. The beach access was free though! Would reccomend visiting and doing all the attractions on the island. Will be visiting again if we are ever in the area!

A very nice beach with the express train only an hour from Tokyo, ideal to escape the today so hot Tokyo. Sunbed and umbrella were affordable at 2500¥. Definitely get here before 11am, there are not many and the beach offers no shade otherwise. I was here during the week and there was little going on, which is probably different on Saturday and Sunday. The almost black beach with "golden" tinsel is very hot. Be sure to bring flip flops. I will be back👍👍👍👍👍

Walk from Shonan-Enoshima Station (you can take the train from Shinjuku Station) to come to this beach. Young crowd, loud music, a lot of attitude. The sand and water are not the most clean, but I won't matter if you are having fun.
