ザ・セレクトン富士山御殿場インター — Attraction in Gotenba

We booked a room in May-2024 for a one-night stop, i booked a room with Mt Fuji view expecting a view of Mt. Fuji, but there was no view at all. Our booking through Agoda indicated that breakfast was included, but it was not, and we had to pay for it separately. This may be Agoda's fault.

The surrounding area has nothing—no supermarkets or convenience stores. Without a vehicle, you cannot go anywhere. We had a car but didn't want to go out to find breakfast, so we paid separately for the breakfast which cost ¥1500. The breakfast choices are not much, i have eaten better breakfast in Japan that are much better. The location is only convenient if you have a car.

Likes: The onsen at the hotel and the satchel of cleansing oil, lotion, sleep wear etc. available outside the lift and the lift is touchless button, you can scan your hand on it to the floor you need to go.

Dislikes: One of the female receptionists was extremely rude and never smiled. We are foreigners, and we went to have breakfast around 8:30 AM, staying until 9:45 AM (breakfast ended at 9:30 AM). We lost track of time. I understand that Japanese culture values punctuality, but this staff member was rude, didn't know any English and cannot explain. Just rudely point to her watch. We also didn't see the sign on the water cooler/hot water system outside the waiting area and refilled our water bottle, and she rudely pointed out the sign prohibiting this.

I felt that this hotel only suitable and only cater for the local. The room is small, the bathroom/toilet is small. As an Asian foreigner we felt unwelcome by the lady reception.

I would never want to stay at this...

Me and my Husband stayed here for 2 days. 6 mins away from Gotemba Premium outlets, 30mins away from Mt. fuji. Very accessible. We really love this hotel. It’s really clean, it’s new modern and cozy. The staff of the hotels are very friendly 😊🙏🤗 they are Very kind, you also have free parking very accessible right infront of your hotel. The view from our hotel is the spectacular mt Fuji. The location is not good if you don't have a car. I had heavy bags and it took me about 40 minutes to reach the hotel. I took a taxi back to the station after check out which cost 1200 yen. It is in a bit of an isolated area. Closest convenience store was about 10-15 mins on foot.The hotel itself is nice, clean and new.
