Bangakuro — Attraction in Hakone

If you want to savor a hot spring experience in a traditional Japanese inn, I recommend this place. The main building dates back 160 years and has a nice rustic but expansive lobby. This is an intimate family run inn and I would guess that there can’t be more than forty rooms and the main building is designed in a way that most of the rooms are not adjacent to each other. It is very quiet. Our suite was large with both a tatami room and a second room with beds and a couch. A long veranda looked out into the woods of the large multi acre property. Two baths - one outdoors - offer relaxation and privacy||while enjoying the invigorating water. Added to the pleasure of our stay was in-suite dining with food that was quite above the quality I’ve had at other inns of this type, ten courses at dinner with innovative presentations of Japanese dishes including beef, pork, vegetables and seafood. Beautiful secluded family owned Ryokan in a forest environment high above the hills of Hakone that offers great value for money. Huge, traditional tatami-rooms with private indoor and outdoor baths. Also each room contain one of those big massage chair (the one you usually have to pay for)! It does lessen the traditional atmosphere, but they are fun and painful to experiment with. The food, dinner and breakfast is delicious, beautiful presented and served in the room.||||The lobby is not very appealing, but you won't stay there anyway. Also the elderly owners, especially the wife, seem a bit overworked. Like the running the ryokan is too much work now. We felt bad letting her carry all those bowls of food and making the bed. 硫黄泉に入りたいのと、客室露天風呂が備わっている宿を探して見つけました。 一度土日に行こうと思って迷っていたら予約を取れなかったので2度目の選択です。

グーグルマップで行くと一つ手前の細道に入って行きそうになりました。 ですが、公式HPの案内にも書いてある通り名前が付いたバス停の近く、もう一つ上のカーブに入り口（看板有）があります。

私は自転車で行きましたが、到着時に「玄関の中に止めますか？」って普通に言われたのはポイント高い。 私は外に置きましたが、高額の自転車の方はありがたいと思います。（接してくれた方も自転車好きらしい）

公式HPの「こだま」と写っている部屋に泊まりました。 部屋は広く明るい。 温泉は内湯と露天がありましたが、どちらも1人分。 私は1人で泊まりましたが、露天はかなり開放的なので部屋から丸見えです。 複数で止まった時はどんな感じになるのか・・・。

泉質は期待通りの硫黄泉でした。 源泉は42度を超える熱めなので、余り薄めたくない人は寒い時期がおすすめ。 時間が経つと沈殿してくる位本格的です。 舐めてみると酸味を感じ、少しピリッとします。 ほぼ露天にしか入っていませんでしたが、水の塩ビはもう少し長めでいいと思う。 少し薄めたいと思っても、水量を絞ると桶に入らなくなる寸法なのはなぜ？ 湯揉み棒もあったけど気休めなので、大きな桶とか源泉を止めれれば（多分下の方にバルブがありそう）加水無しで楽しめたと思う。 泉質が良いので加水無しで楽しみたかった。

料理に関しては全て美味と言っても過言では無いと思います。 私が食した中で、若竹、刺身、鰆が特に美味しかった。

お椀で出てきた竹の子ですが、出汁が効いたお椀の中に入っていました。 柔らかいけど歯ごたえ良く、えぐみもありませんでした。春らしい一品。 刺身はマグロ、金目、ボタン海老。 マグロは脂がのった部位で筋はありません。 ボタン海老は臭みがなく歯ごたえもいい感じ。 金目鯛は脂が程よく乗ってて噛んでいると自然と無くなっていく感じ。 盛り合わせは大根で綺麗に飾っていましたが、その中に山芋があったのも驚きました。 味だけでなく見栄えや組み合わせにもこだわりを感じました。

多くの旅館は終盤にご飯と漬物等を組み合わせますが、ここでは小さいですが鰆の塩焼きが一緒に出てきました。 おかずが無くてご飯が進みにくい状態になりがちですが、鰆が美味しかったです。 そもそも、グリンピースご飯なので白米ではありませんが。 このご飯もほのかに味が付いてて美味しい。

とても満足ですが、しいて言うならステーキはもう少し焼いて欲しかった。 焼き具合は十人十色なので万人に対応するのは無理だと思います。 また、山の春なので山菜の天ぷらを食べたかったです。

飲み物の点では日本酒の種類が少ない。 高級志向の宿ならもう少し増やしてもいいのでは？ ワインは多いですが大吟醸があってもいいと思います。 和風の食事で揃えてるなら尚更。

朝食は品数がありボリュームも多いです。 どれも美味しかったので割愛します。

仲居さんはベテランな感じで適度な距離感で気を遣わずに楽でした。

チェックイン時に部屋に入ってから翌朝まで部屋を出ずに過ごしました。 部屋を出ずに完結します。

チェックアウト時にフロントに大型犬が居ました。 ゴールデンレトリバーのようですが、近づいても動かずぬいぐるみのようでした。 おとなしくて賢そうな感じです。

記載していない不満は少しありますが、価格相応で過ごせると思います。 ここより上のランクは多数あると思います...
