We had a great time here as a family of 5! We stayed 2 nights, had fabulous food, used the Onsen and were able to see much of the Hakone area by using this as our base. They have a shuttle that will pick you up from the Sounzan station in Gora - but be aware that the last cablecar coming up is around 4:30pm. The futons were fairly comfortable, which you put out yourself. The rooms were very spacious. They gave you yukatas to wear around and you had unlimited use of the onsen. Since there are only 7 rooms, and we were using 2 of them, we saw other guests only at meal times, and only once while using the onsen, so even my reluctant teenagers gave it a try since it was practically a private experience. It was a good jumping off point to do the Hakone Loop using the free pass, and a beautiful hillside place to just relax at after hectic sightseeing elsewhere. This was a great first Ryokan experience and I would highly recommend it. It was more in our price range than others, they had a discount for booking ahead directly on their website, and I think it was exactly what we wanted...
Read moreSuch a great find! Calming ryokan in a peaceful part of the mountain. Staff were all super friendly and accommodating of us as tourists who didn’t speak Japanese. Every meal was delicious and the staff took time to tell us what each little dish was and even gave us some extra mini dishes to help us try different things. They were all delicious! The onsens were also very relaxing and had everything you could need. My boyfriend and I booked the private onsen our last night and looking out over the mountain at night when it was raining was a great experience. We got the Japanese style room and it was very spacious and the tatami floors were very comfortable. View over the mountains was also terrific. The ryokan shuttle took us to the nearest two train stations (Gora or Sounzan) in the morning when we requested and picked us up at the end of the day so it was very convenient getting to the ryokan even without a car. Highly...
Read moreLovely little onsen in Hakone. Ran by a lovely little family who go out of their way to make you feel at home. The food was simply amazing, a variety of dishes for breakfast and dinner that we were excited to try! Make sure to arrive early to allow them to prepare your dinner in time, we arrived late not knowing this but were very grateful to be served at late notice.
Onsen spa was readily available for men/women and private spa was able to be booked at last minute - well worth it! Rooms were clean, futons were very comfortable.
Only difficulty is the location as it is in a remote area of Hakone - can be accessed by bus and short walk but would recommend taxi / car. They also gave us a lift in the morning for the start of the Hakone loop.
