Matakichi Yabe was an active architect in Yokohama in the late Meiji Period till early Showa Period. The Principal office building of Kawasaki Bank completed in 1927 atTokyo was his architectual design. この建物は、東京日本橋にあった川崎銀行本店の正面左角の外壁部分を復原したものである。川崎銀行は江戸時代、水戸藤の勘定方を務めた川崎八右衛門が明治13年(1880)に設立した銀行で、明治中頃には有力銀行の一つに数えられた。 川崎銀行本店は、ルネッサンス様式を基調としており当時の銀行建築の代表的な建物であった。 設計者はドイツのシャルロッテン工科大学(現ベルリン工科大学)に学んだ矢部又吉で、大正10年から昭和2年(1921-1927) まで関東大震災を挟んで6年間の工期を費やした。 建物正面左角の外壁部分が移築された。
