If you love cheesecake, a must try.
A set of coffee/tea with cheesecake costs 2,700JPY so quiet expensive. But what you get is a very delicately cheesecake, not too sweet, not too sour, silky smooth texture, a hint of lemon, sweet cinnamon crust, pure extacy.
The place is way up in the mountains, the only public transport is by bus, which thankfully comes every 10 minutes. Also the building itself is quiet unique, it dangles on a cliff so you get a spectacular view of trees and cliffs below, not recommended if you have vertigo. We went in winter and I bet it's lovely come autumn.
The eat-in space is tiny, seats only about 10 people and they don't take seat reservation, so it's a bit risky coming all the way here. Reason is the place actually sells more cake as gifts online, so it's not a proper cafe with kitchen, it's more like an eat-in space to try out their cakes. It's so popular that sometimes it takes more than a week when you order online.
Definitely worth the trip all the up...

I’d come back and do a takeaway just for this if I was ever in Kamakura. Even the unassuming walnut loaf cake was outstanding, despite looking very simple.
But the prices for drinks are completely out of whack, especially given the subpar delivery. 3 people are served one teapot, and the tea is left to steep in a pot with a cozy, so it becomes oversteeped and bitter in 5-10mins. So that’s ¥4100 for one pot of tea, that was never replenished and became oversteeped :(. They need to work on improving their beverages if they want to charge...
Read moreServing Japan’s most expensive cheesecake, this place can be hard to book - also remote, and very exclusive. I finally had the chance to visit during Golden Week.
The place is stunning, with only three tables in a glass-walled space perched over a cliff.
I ordered the recommended dessert wine — it was beautiful with the cake. The cheesecake was simple with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. The base had a strong cinnamon flavor, and the sour cream topping added a tangy contrast. Although I’m not a cheesecake fan, I absolutely loved...
