I have been using Raitei restaurant for Japan private tour clients for over 20 years now! Raitei is special for two major reasons: 1. It's high up on a hill overlooking the sea and also offering superb views of Mount Fuji on clear days. 2. The vast Raitei estate is covered with outstanding, very old stone work and stone carvings, and old traditional structures that complement the garden and stonework. The first floor of the restaurant is unreserved and offers simple lunch dishes. The second floor (great views) requires a reservation and offers traditional Japanese set meals that are not expensive. It's not really a kaiseki restaurant but the attention to detail is similar. And do note that Raitei can be hiked to on the Daibutsu hiking trail but most people go there in a taxi. Enjoy!

A hidden gem in the upscale residential area of Kamakura Yama, this soba restaurant is set within a stunning estate surrounded by a bamboo forest and a beautifully maintained, vast garden. The soba is delicious, and the serene atmosphere enhances the dining experience. After your meal, take a leisurely stroll through the garden, where, on a clear day, you can even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji. Definitely worth a visit if youโ€™re in the area!

If you happen to find this establishment, make sure you have the soba here. The soba was AMAZING. I would love to come back and have their soba again. Afterwards you can go out and explore this area and it is filled with history! Great areas to explore after eating, highly recommend this place
