Easy walk to get there from Hyogo station. All of the buildings were locked up and closed in the middle of the afternoon. It was pleasant to walk around and check it out.

The Hyogo Giant Buddha built in 1891 was one of Japan’s top three Giant Buddhas. It was melted down for its metal during WWII, and today’s Giant Buddha was built in the same spot in 1991 on the 100th anniversary of its predecessor. They say that if you make a wish to the Buddha, it will come true. Today it is relatively unknown as it is not in a location frequented by tourists, but it is a great contrast between the ordinary and special as it is in a residential district....

This thing is HUGE. The most interesting part is that is in the middle of the city. Yes, japan if full of temples next to the modern life, but this buddha is Huge and is not inside a big temple and with a lot of space that makes it "fit". It will surprise you is...
