Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art — Attraction in Kofu

I visited the museum with my husband and 3year-old daughter. And got strong feeling that the museum unofficially refuses small kids.. We've been never given this many precautions in public places before. They asked us not to let go of our kid's hand, not to have her anything in her hand and etc.. even my daughter was already in my husband's arm when they tell us precautions, we felt so disturbing and guilty with the fact that we have a kid with us.. During at the exhibition room, we again was told from another staff member the same precautions we had already heard at the entrance.. Even considering that the museum keeps masterpieces and they need visitors to be cautious but this is excessive. I've visited many other museums in Europe and have seen parents enjoying arts with their children, discussing about art pieces freely. I think that's how a museum achieve their most important goal, "to provide people with a place where art is blooming by educating and inspiring young generation"

In this term, i can say that this museum fails to do so.

My daughter looked on the verge of crying as even she didn't understand whole conversation we had with staff but she still understood overall meaning and tone that she was not welcomed. We left the exhibition room soon but I should have left there even at the entrance when we had to hear the stupid restrictions they set to small kids.. Then we would have not hurt her feeling.

特別展を鑑賞しに2才の子供と夫と3人で行きました。子供を初めて美術館へ連れて行こうと楽しみにしていましたが、結果的には小さな子供連れで行くにはやや肩身が狭い場所であまり楽しめませんでした。

行ったのは土曜の午後遅めの時間でしたがまだそこそこ混んでおり、子連れもチラホラ見かけました。

まず入り口を入った後コロナに関するチェックシートを記入してそこにいた女性スタッフに渡したのですが、私のバッグに付けていた手ピカジェルをしまってくれと言うので(理由は言ってくれませんでしたが、美術品に付いたり床に垂れたら困るからかなと推測)しまったのですが、キツイ感じだったのと理由も言わずにそんな事言われたのが初めてなのでなんかモヤモヤしました。 チケット購入を経て2階へ行くと今度はチケットもぎりの女性から我が子が手に持っていた小さな小さな車のおもちゃをしまってくれと言ってきました。丁寧な言い方で嫌な感じではありませんでしたし、確かにこんなもの持って来てしまったこちらが悪いです。しかし安くはない入場料を払って楽しみに来たのにあれこれ注意されてだんだんモヤモヤが溜まってきました。

展示室へ入って子供が少し歩き回ったら、立っていた女性スタッフから夫に子供が展示に触らないようにしてくれと言われていました(我が子は触ろうともしていませんし、もちろん触ろうとすれば言い聞かせて止めるつもりでしたが)。その後はまた何か言われては嫌だなとずっと子供を抱っこしていましたが、壁で仕切られたエリアごとに職員の方がいるのでなんとなくもしも子供が大きめの声で喋ってしまったらとか思うとあまり落ち着いて鑑賞できませんでした。 最初は子供と展示品について小声で話していましたが、周りは話してる人もいなく静かで話しづらいのと至る所で職員の方が目を光らせているのでこれ以上何か言われるのも嫌だなと思い、とりあえず足早に鑑賞しました。

特別展だからこれだけ職員の方が大勢いたのかなと思いますが、ちょっと鑑賞しづらいですね。 そして子供が何かしてしまったら注意されるのは当然ですが、大きな声を出しても展示品に触ろうともしてないのに何か言われたりする事が他の場所でこれまでなかったのでちょっと悲しくなりました。普段から子供が周りに迷惑かけてしまっては大変といろいろ気にしてヒヤヒヤしているので、私の気にしすぎという事もあるとは思います。 そもそも美術館に連れてくるには早すぎる年齢だなと思い知らされました。でもベビーカー貸し出し等もしているようなので小さな子供連れでも構わないのかなと思っていました。県内には子連れ鑑賞日を設けている別の美術館もありますので、そういった場所の方が良さそうです。

県立の施設で言うと県立博物館も県立考古博物館も県立科学館も小さな子供連れに優しいのに、県立美術館だけはその特性上小さな子供連れで行くにはちょっと難しい場所ですね。

もう少し子供が楽しめる美術館が中心部にあってもいいのになと心から思いました。見たり触ったりして楽しめる美術館、探せば山梨にもあるのでしょうか。絵を見たり描いたりする楽しさを子供にも教えてあげたいものです。 私自身絵を描くのは幼児期から好きで、学生時代に描いた絵が県特選に選ばれて県立美術館に展示されて家族で見に行った事もありました。そんな思い出もある場所で今回私自身も家族もあまり楽し...

In addition it has well curated collections of Japanese art and more contemporary artists. The gallery is very well presented and puts many a big city gallery to shame.
