お城100選にも選ばれています。 花見の季節には多くの人でにぎわいます。

府内城は、16世紀末から17世紀初頭にかけて、石田三成の妹婿福原直高12万石の居城として築かれました。天守閣のあった本丸周辺の水堀は埋められ、現在は、大分城址公園として利用されています。 この公園の北西側の松栄神社は、かつて府内城の山里丸があった場所です。山里丸は、茶の湯や能、月見など諸芸能を行う特別な場所で、府内城ができた前後に築城された大坂城や姫路城などの一部の著名な城しか見られません。山里丸を備えていたことは、府内城が、古式の風格をもった貴重な史跡であることを示します。

府内城の跡地を整備した公園。桜並木や復元建築、説明板あり。

100名城スタンプ台も設置。

● 絵図・古文書 「豊後府内城之絵図」や「府内城下町絵図」などがデジタルアーカイブで公開。
