A few years back I met a chef from Switzerland in a Hotel in Bangkok, he told me about this place as an "Apple Store for Knives".
If I ever make the way to Japan, this is the place I am interested the most. I'll purchase a knife here and will spend as much time as possible at this place.
Especially in a fast paced world were everything seems to be replaceable, I think it's important to appreciate well crafted things and traditions.

Read moreDon’t quite understand. I read that they have a tourist-friendly shop where customers can buy and sharpen knives. But on arrival it was a cagey experience. I don’t think they let anyone near the tool area which is downstairs. I was authoritatively pointed up an unlit black stairway into a strange, dark, upstairs showroom where they are so proud to display knives in velvety pedestals behind imposing glass, with no prices.
