「花の御寺」長谷寺 本坊の山門脇に「御所桜」と呼ばれている立派な枝垂れ桜があります。名前の由来は、ここに光明上皇の庵があったからだそうです。光明上皇は南北朝時代の「北朝」の2代天皇でしたが、南朝に降伏した後は仏門に入り各地を遍歴して仏道の修行に精進し、ここ長谷寺で波瀾に富んだ生涯を閉じたそうです。

この日は拝観セットで最後に寄らしていただきました。 書院造りの建物は立派で観音さまの巨大な掛軸や源氏物語ゆかりの仏像もありました。 最後に廊下から見える樹木が素晴らしいかったです。秋の紅葉🍁が楽しみですね。

長谷寺参拝時、特別拝観料を出して「本坊」も訪ねました。。入る前 振り返ると長谷寺と五重塔が綺麗に見えて想わず拝礼しました。本坊内は皇室所縁のお部屋、夏冬の枯山水の大掛かりな襖絵と見所 有りました。
