I wouldn’t recommend this place to waste your money…… It will be good to visit to take pictures with railroad if you want because there is no control so foreigners and even Japanese do whatever they want to take pictures. So be ready to mess up everything 😇
It costs ¥2000yen/person for 30min round trips which is ripped off for what you paid. For all the trips, I will say it was boring, nothing special. We had to sit together with lots of people and it’s faced to inside so we had to move our body to see the views which is nonsense. Also, they played with a light in the tunnels but they used same one everytime in tunnels even no music so you would get bored.
They explain the places while you trip, but ONLY JAPANESE so don’t expect translation.
Overall, it’s much better to go Takachiho kyou and spend your...
Read moreSuperb visit. I did not know about beforehand but local flyer suggested it and in the end, it was the highlight for me in Takachiho. They have trainrides taking 30 minutes from 10 am til 15.40. It will take you to old railway bridge - the views are amazing. There are some extra nice effects to be seen also- I will keep these as a surprise. The old station is lined with cherry trees - gorgeous sight by itself. There are old trains, garrage, cafe, playground and many more activities while you wait for your ride. It is perfect for families with kids but even for us, married couple, there was plenty to see and enjoy. I extra want to bring out the passion of local people who run it. They do not have much English but the experience is also enjoyable without understanding...

Arrived at 12:09 and managed to get on the 12:20 train. Train was 1/3 to 1/2 full only. The carriages were roofless and we were exposed to the elements. It was pretty cold and windy.
As the train chugged through the tunnels, there were colourful discotheque lights flashing on the ceiling of the tunnels. Quite cute.
The train stopped in the middle of the gorge. I’d honestly say that the view was somewhat typical of a valley with a river at the bottom. What was cute was that the train conductors released tonnes of bubbles from their hand-held bubble maker into the air to create an atmosphere reminiscent of a...
