While exploring the Asakusa area, we walked down the popular Nakamise Shopping Street and eventually found our way to Hommon-ji Gojunoto, the stunning five-story pagoda located just near Sensō-ji Temple. It was a pleasant surprise to step away from the crowd and find a quieter space with such a beautiful structure standing tall in the background.
Unlike the main temple and shopping street, this area was far less crowded, which made it feel more peaceful and allowed us to take our time. There were quite a few people dressed in traditional kimonos, many taking group or solo photos in front of the pagoda, it really added to the atmosphere and made for a great cultural photo opportunity.
The architecture is amazing, with rich red tones and detailed finishes, and the contrast against the bright sky made it a perfect spot for photos. We walked around the entire structure and appreciated it from multiple angles, it looks different depending on where you stand.
If you’re visiting Sensō-ji, I’d definitely recommend walking just a few steps further to see this. It’s not as busy, and you’ll get some amazing shots without the crowd. One of those unexpected highlights that makes Tokyo so special.
