I visit every time I stay nearby, sometimes multiple times on a trip. It is a lovely temple with a park nearby. There are constantly things going on here and it's always worthwhile stopping in.

On this trip over golden week, there was a sword demonstration, a drum concert, children's day, and some other event that I couldn't figure out.

During festivals, food and games are available. You can get some water and use the toilets here at other times. There is Japanese archery here as well and you can see it on the right on the temple. I have never been inside of the archery house, so I just rewatch from outside. Not sure if they welcome people inside.

I love early morning here as it is truly beautiful. It might be worth a special trip to some, but I don't think it is so special that it would be worth a medium to long journey (30 minutes).

Make sure you visit the nearby park, there is radio exercises every morning at 0630. From the temple, leave via the exit to right, cross over the river and walk about 15 minutes to the right. It takes place in one of the playgrounds. You will see people starting to gather...

It was my second time to visit this shrine. I assume this shrine is one of the biggest ones in this area. Last time I visited here was August in 2023 and went back there for the first time in a year.

It was during the Shichigosan season so some kids in traditional Japanese outfits and kindergarteners were visiting and taking pictures there too.

Ginkgo tree was in their bust time to appreciate and leaves were all in yellow fully. There were the female and the male ginkgo trees right past the inside gate of the shrine but they can be seen way from the distance because they are so tall.

I didn’t receive one but they do have...

On a summer evening, during twilight, you can experience a profound sense of serenity, reminiscent of Studio Ghibli's "Spirited Away." On a related note, the renowned animation director, Hayao Miyazaki, spent much of his youth in this vicinity. My daughters love SevenTeen ice, which you can buy at the vending machine near the main shrine.
