We decided to go on weekday just assuming the weekend will be super busy.
We purchased online directly with Sanrio Puroland website (yes, cost more) but we just want to make sure it's legit. It was easy process but you need to translate your browser to English. The park website is terrible with switching to English. Once we purchased the tickets online, there's an email with QR code which you could screenshot and ready to go.
So many remarks regarding waiting at the entrance. We got a day pass and arrived just little after 10am. The long line up ONLY for those who did not purchase ticket advanc. With QR code, we didn't have to wait (awesome), one QR code per family. At the first check, they will search your bag or backpack for outside food or drinks (understandable). Second entrance is where you need to present you QR code, scan and go.
We knew the boat ride will be the longest time to wait. As soon as we're inside we wait for the boat ride. BOAT line is a little to the left of the entrance, there's a signage indicate estimated wait time (60 min). While wait in line for th boat ride to the right of the line there's a brochure stand, one brochure is for show time, one is the map (take both). While waiting for the boat ride, there's an amazing musical show at 11am. By the time we go to the base of the line. The amazing show at 11am just start infront of us. I stay in the line while my partner and child went to see the show. It was amazing! I could see a little bit of the show while waiting in line. If you're taller person you could see better. Regardless, this amazing show have to slot 11:00and 14:30.
Boat ride!!! Well worth your time waiting it line. It was amazing!! You could pay extra to skip the line but, I truely believe if you go in the morning hours you don't really need it. The line does move fairly quickly. Anytime after 13:00 you'll will see a herd of teenager crowds. Don't skip the boat ride. It's really amazing! Make sure you pay attention while you're in the boat ride, there's a spot where the hello kitty area that tells you to look up and an automated camera will take picture of your boat. The photo will cost money but it's well worth a great memories.
There are random shows throughout the day. Just look at the brochure. Yes, everything is in Japanese, however, major musical shows the introduction will be in English. There's a lot of Japanese guests vs tourist so makes sense everything is in Japanese. A reminder to foreigners you ARE in Japan.
The park seems to be small for most foreigners but it so compact so that you don't have to walk a lot to see all the shows. It's so much details and the park does try to make ensure everyone have a chance to enjoy their amazing musical shows while roaming around. The park have limited of guests in the park but you don't have to wait for long time. Traffic flow is really well done! The park make sense for parents don't have to follow their children all day long and gets tired. It's a great size not TOO big and not too small.
The only thing that the park should improve on is KUROMI. The park focus on Hello Kitty and My Melody. There's not much of Kuromi since it's just starting to get popular. But it's really amazing to see small Japanese children dress up in their favorite Sanrio character in the park.
Japan once again, your effort to make your theme park so colorful and do much details. From the subway to the direction to...
Read moreA dream for Sanrio lovers! We went as 2 adults on a weekday in December, and had an amazing time.
There’s something here for everyone, but it’s mostly targeted to young children. We stayed for the whole day, and found it difficult to fit everything we wanted to do in! A lot of time sensitive events happen in Puroland, such as the character meet and greets, the birthday celebration and parade/shows, so you need to plan the timings of your day well.
There are so many cute photo spots all over Puroland, so perfect for taking photos. Lady Kitty’s house was particularly good, lots of adorable photo ops! Make sure to dress up cute and take lots of pictures!
For the character meet and greets, I recommend looking on the website to see which characters are there on the day of your visit if you really want to meet a specific one. To meet the characters, you need to get a ticket with an hour return window on it and you can only hold one ticket per mobile device, and if you want to meet more than one character you have to meet the first one before you can get another ticket (it’s very confusing!). Slots for the meet and greets do run out so I recommend you either prioritise the popular characters (because they run out first) or your favourite characters (so you don’t miss out!).
Rides wise, there aren’t a lot in Puroland, the Sanrio Boatride is absolutely fantastic and well worth the wait. Watch out for the closing time of the boatride, if the queue is long enough, they will close the queue early and during our visit the ride temporary broken down so getting on as early as is reasonable is best! The My Melody ride is also very cute and enjoyable, especially since My Melody is my favourite character.
There are two food courts, and both are very cute with Sanrio themed food. The cutest looking ones are the curries but the portions are quite small for an adult. We also had the Gudetama ramen which was really good.
The main draw of Puroland is definitely the shows, standouts being the Kawaii Kabuki show and the Miracle Gift Parade. Kawaii Kabuki is a show in a theatre so you don’t need to come super early if it’s not too busy in the park overall, the show is fantastic, wholeheartedly recommend seeing this! The Miracle Gift Parade is a parade that takes place around the central tree so there are many places that you can get a good view from. It’s a great way to see many characters at once. This one is a bit more difficult to get a good view for so arrive at least 30 mins before to find a good spot.
The gift shop has so much variety and stays open past closing time, so you can shop after your day around the theme park. They also have lots of merch for less popular/more obscure characters, so if your favourite character is more obscure, it’s worth checking out the gift shop to see if you can find them.
Overall, we had a fantastic day, and stayed from opening to closing! If you love Sanrio and cute things, you will...
Read moreSubject: Complaint Regarding Unprofessional and Disrespectful Behavior by Staff at Sanrio Puroland
Dear Sanrio Puroland Customer Service,
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the way I was treated by one of your staff members during my visit today with my child.
Before 6:00 PM, as we were about to leave the park, I momentarily stepped outside the gate while my child was still inside. I attempted to return through the gate to take just one more photo of my child, but a female staff member standing near the exit rushed over and forcefully pulled me back, refusing to let me re-enter. I found this behavior very aggressive and inappropriate.
Although her English was limited, I used Google Translate to explain that I simply wanted to take one more photo of my child before leaving. Despite this, she continued to deny me entry in a very unfriendly and unprofessional manner. I asked for her name so I could file a complaint, but she refused to provide it.
I then asked to speak with a manager. Two young staff members came to speak with me, but they didn’t seem to be real managers. Finally, another staff member (possibly a supervisor) arrived and allowed me to re-enter to take the photo,.
However, after I finished and was exiting the gate again, I politely told the staff that their behavior should be improved. In response, she pretended not to understand me, even though she had just been communicating with me in English. Her expression and body language were disrespectful and dismissive, giving me the impression that she was being discriminatory toward a foreign visitor.
I was very disappointed and hurt by this experience. I came to Sanrio Puroland hoping to create happy memories with my child, but this incident left a very negative impression.
I kindly ask that you review this matter seriously and ensure your staff are trained to treat all guests — especially foreign visitors — with courtesy...
