Benesse Star Dome — Attraction in Tokyo

京王線・小田急線・多摩モノレールの多摩センター駅から歩いて7分くらいの場所にある、プラネタリウムです。

子ども教育やアニメしまじろうで有名なあのベネッセコーポレーションのビルの最上階にあります。

2025年にフルリニューアルしており、最新機器設備になっていて非常に綺麗な映像美を楽しむことが出来ます。

基本的には団体客(小学校や幼稚園など)向けに公開していますが、週末には個人向けの一般公開もしており、今回はそちらを利用して行きました。

プラネタリウムのチケットを買うには、必ず先着制の整理券が必要になります。

朝9時50分からビルの中で配布されるのですが、その前に既にビル敷地入り口には行列が出来ています。

1日に4～5回の枠しかなく、内2回はしまじろうアニメになるため、競争率は高めですが、配布開始時間に間に合えば何とか席は取れると思います。

21階の展望フロアにドームが鎮座しており、ドームだけでなく見渡す限りの素晴らしい景色も同時に楽しむことが出来ます。

大人1人あたり600円という超低価格なのもありがたいです。

ここだけでしか見ることの出来ない特別上演もあり、ぜひ一度は訪れておいた方が良い人気スポットになります。

すぐ近くにはサンリオピューロランドがあり、仮面ライダーや戦隊モノなどで撮影にも使われる宮殿や、とても大規模なゲームセンター、特別席を先着追加料金無しで使えるイオンシネマ、ショッピングモールなどもあり、1日居ても飽きない場所にあるのもポイントが高いです。

モノレールに乗れば動物園や高幡不動や立川、京王線ならよみうりランドや水族館、新宿から1本で行けるのも良いです。

何より夕方の上映は高校生以上しか見れない制限を設けることで、デートで訪れる若いカップルや、ご年配の夫婦、友達同士で来ている幅広い年齢層や1人で楽しんでいる方など、大人の楽しむ場を提供してくださっているのが、とても嬉しいです。

また近いうちに訪れたいと思いました。

This is a planetarium located about a 7-minute walk from Tama Center Station, which is served by the Keio Line, Odakyu Line, and Tama Monorail.

It is situated on the top floor of the Benesse Corporation building, a company well known for children's education and the Shimajiro anime.

The facility underwent a full renovation in 2025, introducing state-of-the-art equipment, allowing visitors to enjoy stunningly beautiful visuals.

While the planetarium is primarily open to group visitors, such as elementary schools and kindergartens, it also offers public screenings on weekends. This time, I visited during one of those general admission days.

To purchase a ticket, you must obtain a numbered entry pass, which is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

These passes are handed out inside the building starting at 9:50 AM, but before that, there is already a line forming at the entrance to the premises.

With only 4 to 5 screenings per day—two of which are dedicated to Shimajiro anime—the competition for seats is quite high. However, as long as you arrive in time for the distribution, you should be able to secure a spot.

The dome is located on the 21st floor observation area, offering not only an immersive planetarium experience but also breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Another great point is its incredibly low admission fee—just 600 yen per adult.

Additionally, the planetarium offers exclusive special screenings that can only be seen here, making it a must-visit attraction.

Nearby, you’ll find Sanrio Puroland, a palace often used as a filming location for Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, a massive arcade, an AEON Cinema with premium seating available at no extra charge on a first-come basis, and a shopping mall—making it a great place to spend an entire day without getting bored.

If you take the monorail, you can visit a zoo, Takahata Fudoson Temple, or Tachikawa. If you take the Keio Line, you can go to Yomiuriland amusement park or an aquarium. And since it's directly accessible from Shinjuku, it’s very convenient.

Most notably, the evening screenings are restricted to high school students and older, providing an ideal space for young couples on dates, elderly couples, groups of friends, and solo visitors—creating a more mature and relaxing atmosphere.

This was a nice experience. The planetarium is on the top floor of the building. Be aware that you are not allowed up there until about 30 minutes before showtime. You also can’t buy tickets until you get up there. (You can get a number for purchasing a ticket beforehand but it’s not necessary) They do have chairs and tables in the lobby if you arrive early. They change out the shows every couple of months or so but you might have a hard time if you’re a foreigner because it’s all in Japanese and there’s no translation. Some shows are easy enough to understand though, give it a try it’s only ¥400...

２１階の展望フロアは、眺めが良く気持ちが良かったですね！スタードームの関係者の方々も丁寧で優しい方ばかりだったので何の心配も無く安心してプラネタリウムを利用出来ましたよ！スタードームのプラネタリウムの整理券は、９時５０分に２階（正面入口）で、各時間事に整理券を配布していますよ！各時間事に最大６１席分の整理券を配布していて先着順になっていますね！また、プラネタリウム利用料金は、６００円です！私達の方も１４時の整理券を貰い、時間前の１５分前位に２階フロア（正面入口）に到着して係の方にエレベーターを案内されて２１階の展望フロアへ進みます！２１階フロアには、小さなお子さんが遊べるスペースとトイレがある展望フロアで２１階到着時に整理券を係の人に渡して利用券を６００円で購入し準備を待ちます！時間が来た所で案内の放送があり利用券に書かれた番号順事にプラネタリウムに案内されますよ！内部は、ヒンヤリした涼しい場所で、席との間隔もそれなりに広く座椅子の背もたれの調整が出来て便利ですね！本当にプラネタリウム内は、快適な場所なので子供遊びに疲れた後の席のお爺ちゃんは、軽くイビキをかいて既に寝ています（笑）プラネタリウムが始まり終わりまでの時間は、約１時間で上映されていて前半では、夏の大三角形や星座に付いて詳しい解説があり、後半でオーロラの解説があり地球と星々の素晴らしさを教えてくれます！煌めく星々とオーロラの映像は、素晴らしく感動を覚えましたね！映画館の様に音が反射する様な感覚で楽しめたので迫力があって良かったです！上映終了した所で各自エレベーターに乗って２階フロアで解散になりますよ！人それぞれと見方や感じ方が違うと思いますが、個人的には、スタードームのプラネタリウムは、分かりやすく好きな部類ですね！皆様も避暑地の意味を込めて涼しいプラネタリウムは、いかがですか？迫力があって本当に勉強になります！子供の知育や夏休みの自由研究に持って来いの場所、ベネッセスタードームを是非御活用下さいね！上映中のイビキだけは、御注意下さいね（笑）それでは、皆様とお子さんの夏休みが素晴らしい休みになる事を願...
