Unzen Jigoku — Attraction in Unzen

Traveled to Unzen just for this experience and was not disappointed! The sulphuric smell greets you as you enter Unzen and it’s such a sight to see the source! My partner and I enjoyed walking around the trails which are easy to navigate with many maps. Nice area to stroll around with several parking lots nearby. You will definitely smell it before you see it! The paths go right up against the steam vents and bubbling pools, so you get quite close. There are paths that lead up the hill a bit, but there are also easy flat areas to walk around. Also, don’t miss the onsen eggs! They cost ¥100 each and make for a nice snack.
