Lake Yamanakako is a picturesque location that has numerous different types of water birds such as; swans, cranes and ducks. You may also see some hawks flying near the mountain side and, plenty of fish can be seen.
In general it’s a nice walk by the lake, with several vendors selling swan food for 100 - 200 Yen. You can also hire bikes/scooters or, take a swan boat out onto the lake. There are various small cafes and convenience stores, with a small handful of restaurants.
If you’re travelling here to get a Glimpse of Mt. Fuji, make sure you check online in advance on visibility likelihood, especially when travelling in October. Unless it’s really great weather, chances are, you will simply see clouds.

Don’t forget to buy duck food because the swans, fish, and ducks will all follow you around and come right up to the boat expecting to be fed.
