I had a fantastic experience staying at Murabito Hostel, managed by a lovely young family. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and their willingness to assist with any inquiries or requests. The hostel itself is impeccably clean and exudes a cozy and inviting atmosphere that instantly made me feel at home.
One of the standout features of Murabito Hostel is the abundance of communal areas, including a spacious lounge and an inviting outdoor space. This allows guests to find their preferred spot to relax and unwind. Whether you want to socialize with fellow travelers or find a quiet nook to enjoy a book, there are ample options available.
During my stay, everything was wonderful, except for a couple of minor issues that were beyond the control of the hostel owners. One of them was the presence of snoring individuals in the shared sleeping area. While it's understandable that shared accommodations can sometimes come with this inconvenience, I unexpectedly encountered a particularly loud snorer whose snores resembled thunderbolts. Despite using noise reduction earplugs, I found myself waking up every 30-50 minutes due to the intensity of the snoring. It was a slight disturbance to my sleep, but I understand that it's not something the owners can control.
Additionally, in the morning, there was a strong smell of canalization that entered the room. This unpleasant odor made me feel a bit sick and affected my appetite during breakfast. However, I want to emphasize that these occurrences are likely occasional and beyond the control of the hostel owners. It's simply something to keep in mind when planning your stay.
Despite these minor inconveniences, I would wholeheartedly choose Murabito Hostel again for my next visit to Yamanakako. The exceptional hospitality, cleanliness, and cozy ambiance make it a standout option in the area. The young family who runs the hostel truly creates a welcoming and comfortable environment, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable and...
Read moreWe usually do not really like hostel, but this one was a bit different. Our private bunk bed room was much larger then expected and a small foldable table is provided. There is a large closet for backpacks and personal items. The beds are incredibly comfortable, big and practical, home made and very strong, so it doesn’t move when the person on the top moves. It was overall pretty quiet, and very clean in all shared rooms too. People were pretty respectful when we were here. I got injured during my Japan trip, so they help me renting a wheelchair. The bus stop is 1 minute walk from the hostel and the bus for Shinjuky Tokyo stops directly here !
Cons : -Would be missing a complete sink upstairs -The sliding doors downstairs are the worst noise problem. You can hear it open and close so clearly from upstairs, and when people use it repetitly after 11 am or very early at 5 am, then it got me awake and couldn’t sleep anymore. -Not related to the hostel itself, but the cost of a one way bus to the hostel from fujisan train station is 700 yen, which is pretty expensive. Also, the first bus for Pagoda or lake Kawaguchi is at 7:44 am. So if you planned to get by the pagoda for sunrise, you won’t be able to make it. Also no taxi around. Note that the best place was lake Yamanaka anyway, so do not even bother to check out the awfully...
