Thailand's Koh Chang | A Carefree Off-the-Beaten-Path Island Vacation

This is one of the best hotels in Thailand 🏝️ If you’re planning a trip to Thailand, you have to visit the stunning island of Koh Chang. Located away from the main tourist route, it takes a little longer to get here, but the incredible beaches and minimal tourists make it worth it. And if you’re looking for the best place to stay in Koh Chang, look no further than the newly opened @theretreatkohchang [pr stay] Location 🌴 Nestled between Kai Bae beach and a small fishing village, it benefits from jaw dropping views over the Gulf of Thailand, and some very special sunsets. Rooms 🛏️ There’s only 36 bedrooms here, so it never feels overcrowded. Room types include cosy doubles, swim up pool rooms, an ocean suite and a stunning dual level villa with its own pool. Bedrooms start from around £145 a night. Food and drink 🍹 The restaurant serves a delicious mix of Thai and Western food, and cocktails to rival ones I’ve had in London. Breakfast is served all day here (yes, really), so there’s no rushing out of bed for fear of missing out. Service ✨ It’s rare I stay in a hotel where I feel they’ve nailed the service - but here it was perfect. The team are attentive without being overbearing, and every detail is considered - like free fruit delivered poolside throughout the day. What else? 🪩 There’s a weekly events schedule including painting classes, live music, cocktail making, and outdoor cinema screenings underneath the stars. #thailand #thailandtravel #thailandtrip #thailandonly #thailand🇹🇭#amazingthailand #thailandonly #travelthailand #visitthailand #kohchang #explorethailand #thailandtravels #adayinthailand #beautifulthailand #thailandonly #thailandinstagram #lovethailand #lostinthailand #amazingthailand #igthailand #thailande#asiatravel #asiatrip #visitasia #travelasia #discoverasia #exploreasia #travellingasia #travelblogger #uktravelblogger Things to do Thailand | Visit Thailand | Thailand Hotels | Best islands Thailand | Where to go Thailand | Explore Thailand | Best sunsets Thailand | Best hotels Thailand | Where to stay Thailand

This beach is used for abusing elephants!! At the beach you’ll find elephants trainers ‘washing’ their elephants, and tourist can sit on them, take photos and bath with them. The elephants even are forced to do tricks, like sitting with you for a photo or falling in the water. THIS IS ANIMAL ABUSE. Apparently you have to repeat this to people many many times. If you like elephants, DO NOT CONTRIBUTE OR PAY FOR THIS. These animals did not learn to pose with you by nature. They should be IN nature. Please use your common sense. The trainers don’t have these sticks with them for fun. Educate yourself. After they leave the beach, they are chained. For the rest of there lives. They are not your entertainment.

Awful view at the beach. THESE ARE NOT HAPPY ELEPHANTS. No one in their right mind should enjoy this. I've seen the elephants beaten so bad because he didn't want to go swim with tourists that day. So please know - the elephants don't "come" to swim here, they are forced to. If you look closely you see the Mahout is always right behind them with the elephant pick (sharp hook that goes deep in their flesh). They have no choice but to swim with tourists, otherwise they are tortured. Do not...

The beach is shallow. It’s possible to have a proper swim if you walk it a bit. Be careful of rocks (better to enter in the middle of the beach) but it was clear enough when we visited to see the rocks and avoid them when walking in the water. There are cute baby elephants that you can play with in the sea and take pictures with (for a few). Good amount of beach restaurant/bars to sit in - which are part of resorts. The nice thing about this beach area is that the main road behind the...
