Fin Koh Chang — Restaurant in Trat Province

Tried this two days in a row, first day was pretty unlucky as I ordered a burger, this burger was pretty cheap - but the quality was here after, super dry meat and bun. What's worse is that my partner ordered a meal as well, but somehow they never delivered this, we waited and waited. Turns out they never got that down on their iPad due to bad wifi - oh well, we left and decided that we would be fair and return next day. After all they had live music and a cosy astomoshere.

Next day arrives and we try again.

We stand around waiting to be seated for a good 10 minutes while there is chaos, it's pretty booked so it's hard by in the end we get a table after pointing at it seeing it's free.

We get the menu and this time we order a Tender Loin with sauserkraus. The meal we did not get yesterday, we also order some drinks.

I get my drink after 25 minutes, and my partner has to wait an additional 10 minutes. After about an hour the one dish we ordered arrived, it's not bad but not great either.

Seeing we ordered drunks way before we decide to order a coke, it's like everything else slow to arrive - so we are nearly done eating when it comes. I ask if we can pay now and I get an yes - we drink the coke and we wait... And wait. We end up just putting the money in a jar and hand it to a waiter, he gives it to someone else and that someone else puts it aside and dose something else.

We just leave, no more patience. Worst I'd that we spotted in out boredom other people who never got their menu cards a d just left, some that looked at it and after a long time left - and finally the table beside us waited longer for the food than us, they seemed pretty annoyed that we got ours before them, luckily thet got it soon after.

All in all the service is a mess. The food is mediocre and the drinks decent. This place tries to be everything with both food, pool, live music and drinks. They have to choose and focus on one. They have great reviews, and I'm not sure if this is just a reminent of the past or we got super unlucky, but two days in a row is not...

I had gone for a second honeymoon to the beautiful island of Koh Chang in November 2022. We were at Koh Chang for 4 nights and went to Filou for 2 nights. This pretty much says how much we loved the place.

My wife and I have visited many countries and explored many islands. We have found bars in the remotest destinations and made them our hangout place. Filou comes in the top 5 for sure.

Let's review the place:-

1. Ambience:- The place is run by Australians. It has a surfers cafe kind of a vibe. The place has many tables and has seating near the bar. The bar is open and pretty busy. The place has a wonderful live band every evening from 9-11. We repeatedly went here for the band and their wide range of English songs. The place is usually filled up with Westerners and Rich Asians. It's a safe place to visit without worrying about anything

Drink:- We ordered a variety of cocktails and all were perfect. The pina colada is a must try. It is beautifully decorated and freshly served in a coconut. Prices are not cheap not expensive. They are reasonably priced

Food:- I am a 100% vegetarian and chances of finding good veg food in Thailand are like finding the YETI. To my shock (not even surprise) the veg food (more than the usual fries and garlic bread) was amazing. We ordered tons of food and nothing was average. Everything tasted superb. We ordered spring rolls, onion rings, Greek salads, nachos, Thai curry, pizza, bruschetta and the list goes on. The green Thai curry is a must probably the only place which will serve veg.

Service:- The team mainly consists of young energetic girls who are quick to tale your orders. However, the kitchen and bar is a bit slow. But again, whose in a rush on this beautiful island.

Worth mentioning:- By mistake I forgot to tell the waitress to not add meat in my nachos and she got meat and nachos. She happily replaced it without even charging me for the meat and nachos. It was a sweet gesture which I really appreciated.

Undoubtedly a must visit place. Do visit when...

Alright so we’ve been here a few times now to really get to know the place and the food it has. Overall it’s quite nice, a very international place with only music from the west and the typical food from the west and also some Thai classics. It’s always one of the places with more people but I’m not sure why.

Food: Not really all that good at all. I’ve had four different mains and all have been overcooked and quite tasteless.

Service; Everything. Takes. So. Long. 2 beers? 10-15 min, even when it’s not a lot of people. Food? 30-45 min. The food is usually served straight away as it’s done, which means that my partner received his food a lot sooner than I did. It could go another 15 min before my food would come.

Drinks: Not really my cup of tea. Very boring, most are very similar to each other and are usually very strong. Which is nice sometimes, but this is too much.

Price: I guess it’s alright compared to the same standard home in Europe but I’m not wasting my...
