I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Retreat, and I must say, it has left an indelible mark on my list of favorite vacation beach resorts worldwide. From the moment we arrived until the day of departure, the hotel's exceptional hospitality and attention to detail made our stay truly unforgettable.
The service provided by the staff at The Retreat goes above and beyond expectations. Each employee demonstrated a genuine commitment to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. Their warm and friendly demeanor added a personal touch that made us feel not just like guests, but like valued members of the retreat community.
The culinary experience at The Retreat was nothing short of excellent, with a special mention for the fresh seafood that left our taste buds craving for more. The diverse menu and top-notch quality of the dishes reflected the hotel's dedication to providing a delightful dining experience.
Situated right on the water's edge, The Retreat boasts a spectacular view of the islands in the sea. The location is truly a piece of paradise, offering a tranquil and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the hotel's proximity to a charming town filled with restaurants, bars, and local attractions was a pleasant surprise, making it convenient for us to explore the local culture.
The landscape of The Retreat is a testament to meticulous planning and a keen eye for aesthetics. The tropical surroundings are not only beautifully organized but also add to the overall allure of the resort. Walking through the lush greenery, one can't help but appreciate the harmonious blend of nature and design.

Read moreOur stay at The Retreat Koh Chang exceeded all expectations! I had done extensive research and read countless reviews before booking, so I came in with high hopes—but this place managed to surpass them in every way. From the moment we arrived, everything was flawless: the reception, the booking process, the room, the restaurant, the location, and, of course, the breathtaking views.
The staff are exceptional—well-trained, friendly, and eager to go above and beyond to make every guest feel special. They truly spoiled us at every opportunity. The food was outstanding, especially the Thai dishes, which were so irresistible that my wife gained 2 kg during our three-day stay!
We also thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary activities offered during the day. The mocktail class was a standout for us, thanks to the skill and humor of teachers Dumrong and Ohm, who made the experience both fun and memorable.
The views from the hotel are nothing short of stunning, especially during sunset. In fact, I’d say it’s probably the best sunset view on the island. Traveling with kids, we were thrilled with how attentive and thoughtful the staff were—they even went out of their way to find toys for the children and ensure they felt just as spoiled as we did.
Special mention goes to Khun Dee, the manager, whose kindness and warm welcome left a lasting impression. It’s rare to find someone so genuinely attentive, and it added a unique touch to our stay. The hotel itself is impeccably clean, and we absolutely loved its beautiful design.
Every baht we spent here was worth it, and we will undoubtedly return. While part of me wants to keep this incredible sanctuary a secret, it’s only fair to share such a remarkable place with others. We’ve traveled extensively and stayed at many luxurious, boutique, and five-star hotels, but The Retreat Koh Chang is, without a doubt, one of the best we’ve ever...
Read moreWe had a week’s stay over Christmas and NY at the Retreat. Overall it was a great stay and would recommend to couples looking for a convenient location on the island but away from the crowd. ||Communication with the hotel before arrival was easy. We needed to change our booking date and arrange transfers from Trat airport. The hotel was responsive via email.||The hotel is in Kaibae beach area and close to one of the busiest areas of the island. Restaurants, shops, laundry and massage were a short walk away. But the hotel is situated away from the main strip which means it is quiet. ||We stayed in a deluxe pool access room. There were pros and cons. Having direct access to a dipping pool was lovely. But these rooms are on the ground floor and people can see in. The room was spacious and the hotel provided enough water daily which is important in a hot place like Thailand. The AC in our room was often loud. We mentioned it to the manager but didn’t expect it to be an easy fix. ||The breakfast was great and the staff were a highlight, always smiley and willing to help. I only ate the Thai dishes and they were tasty. Loved the wide range of juices and smoothies. ||The main pool had a fantastic view of the sea and there were always enough loungers. If loungers ran out the staff would bring additional ones. They also give you water by the pool which is great. You can use the beach at the neighbouring hotel The Chill. We went once, the beach was rocky and The Chill generally isn’t as well laid out as the Retreat. There are better public beaches on the island.||Gym - depending on time of day it can be pretty warm due to the fact that it’s basically an air conditioned glasshouse. One treadmill, an elliptical and a couple of bikes, all fairly dated. But there was a good range of free weights. The bedroom also came...
