Bukit Jalil Recreational Park is easily one of my favourite parks in Kuala Lumpur, and every visit here feels refreshing. What makes this place stand out for me is its size and variety — it’s not just a typical city park with jogging tracks, but more like a mini escape filled with greenery, open spaces, and even cultural gardens.

The first thing I noticed about the park is how big it is. There are wide jogging and cycling tracks that loop around the park, shaded by tall trees, which makes it perfect for both casual walks and serious exercise. I often come here for morning runs, and the fresh air combined with the sound of birds always sets the tone for a good day. The park is hilly in some areas, so it gives you a nice workout without being too exhausting.

What I love most are the different themed gardens, like the International Garden which has design elements from different countries. Walking through those sections feels like a mini world tour — you can see Japanese-style gardens, European-inspired layouts, and more. It adds an extra layer of interest, especially if you enjoy exploring unique landscapes. There’s also a bamboo garden and a beautiful lake with bridges where people often stop to take photos or just sit quietly.

For families, Bukit Jalil Park is very welcoming. The children’s playground is spacious, and you’ll often see kids running around, playing football, or cycling with their parents. There are open fields perfect for picnics or group activities, and plenty of shaded spots with gazebos where you can just relax. On weekends, it’s common to see families spreading out picnic mats and spending the day together.

The atmosphere is very lively yet peaceful at the same time. In the mornings, you’ll see fitness enthusiasts jogging or doing tai chi, while in the evenings it becomes more of a community gathering spot with friends, families, and couples enjoying the breeze. Despite being quite popular, the park is big enough that it never feels overly crowded — you can always find a quiet corner if you just want some alone time.

One of my personal highlights is climbing up to the viewing points where you get a nice overlook of the greenery and parts of the city. It’s a simple pleasure, but standing there with a cool breeze and a wide view always feels rewarding.

The park is also well-maintained. The walking paths are clean, the grass is neatly trimmed, and there are plenty of benches and resting areas throughout. Public toilets are available, and security presence gives you a sense of safety. Parking is generally manageable, although it can get busier on weekends and public holidays.

Bukit Jalil Recreational Park is also very accessible, located just near Bukit Jalil Stadium and easy to reach by car or public transport. It’s a convenient spot for people living around Klang Valley who want a proper outdoor escape without traveling too far.

Overall, I’d say Bukit Jalil Recreational Park is more than just a place to exercise. It’s a space that brings people together, whether for fitness, family time, or simply to enjoy nature. Every visit leaves me feeling recharged, and I always look forward to coming back. If you’re looking for a big, clean, and diverse park in KL where you can jog, walk, picnic, or just enjoy some greenery, this is definitely one of the...

Staying with my daughter in her apartment, I need places to walk. Unfortunately, this requires a Grab ride for me, but is worth it. Early morning: lots of monkeys scavenging and being illegally fed. Catfish, also being illegally fed, are fun to watch. I was sketching and watching a monitor lizard at the waters edge, and then realized a macaque was watching ME. Priceless moment! There are a lot of sunny spots on the walkways, so a hat or an umbrella is nice. I've had some fun conversations with Chinese Malaysians as I walked! Have not checked out the (pay) toilets. I usually head to the Pavilion Mall afterward for iced coffee, a polo bun, and air conditioning! Update: evening is also good for animal watching. Families were feeding the monkeys-officially not allowed, so I just watch. (Monkey hint: if one approaches you too closely, stamp your foot!) There is a bamboo grove where the mama monkeys were letting the babies roam. This evening I watched the monitors swim across the lake to lie on the far bank. Catfish, pigeons, turtles were all in view ( they all get illegally fed, too). Bonus: If you can make it across the road from the North Entrance to the Jaya food store, you'll find the Kam Chee Cafe, where I've had several good Chinese style meals that agreed with my American...

Bukit Jalil Recreation Park is a true gem for families, and the children’s playground is easily its crown jewel. Nestled amidst lush greenery, the playground is a vibrant, joyful haven where kids can run free, explore, and let their imaginations soar. The equipment is modern, safe, and thoughtfully designed to cater to various age groups, from toddlers to older children.

What makes it stand out is the sheer variety of play structures—from colorful slides and climbing frames to swings and interactive installations. The layout encourages both active play and creativity, and there's plenty of shaded seating for parents to relax while keeping a close eye on the fun.

The park's commitment to cleanliness and maintenance is also commendable, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience every visit. Surrounded by nature, with wide open spaces and scenic paths, it’s the perfect setting for a wholesome day out.

Whether you're a local or just visiting Kuala Lumpur, the children's playground at Bukit Jalil Recreation Park is a must-visit spot that promises laughter, adventure, and cherished memories for the...

This park has been around for ~20 years, built about the same time the last Commonwealth Games (1998?) was held around the area. Was a hidden gem until the land in the surrounding area was opened up for development. The main circuit is between 2-3km. However, there are many narrower trails tat run between the hills and jungle areas. Up down the hills, across the lakes, taichi/group exercise in the open flat areas. Educational walks for kids - feed various species of birds, monkeys, fishes, squirrels. Flora and fauna too. Special mention - there are two spots for the physically challenged communities. Dataran OKU consists of ramps to build up stamina. The other consists of various exercise stations to tone/build muscle. April 2022 update ~ the park is still well-maintained and a favourite among joggers and elderly people for exercises. ~ normally crowded with families during weekends. For high risk individuals and elderly, suggest to go weekdays when people traffic is lower.
