For a place that’s called “Oomph”, it ironically lacked oomph.
On first impression, the decor is ok. Typical cafe. There is a little corner with low seating that’s quite chill and makes a likely popular spot for those wanting that “aesthetic” (i.e this for all the influencers who wanna IG story, XHS, tiktok etc)
The staff’s uniform of a vest seemed quite an oddball choice. They would seem more at home at an apparel retailer or a hip hop crew.
Noticed there was a corner of “brew and bread” coffee being sold. i never been to a brew and bread cafe but is another one of those viral places so i heard of it before. And curiously, i googled and basically the menus are the same. Though i cannot say 100% oomph is basically a sister of brew and bread…but i would think so as everything is identical.
Menu wise, not very extensive which is fine. Is typical those so called “aussie” cafe that you have all day breakfast, burgers, pasta, salad. The selection is kind of…meh for me. Had the eggs benedict while another companion had carbonara (carbonara cream sauce tasted slightly…i dont know but sweeter than usual?). But through both dishes - we had one major issue - the poached eggs were slightly overcooked AND it was noticeably sour from what we guess is the vinegar. 🤦🏻♀️
A variety of patries and cakes on display. However, didnt try any.
Coffee is ok i would say. You can choose between 2 types of beans.
What’s hilarious was we saw a review somewhere that said it was a cafe that the person will not go back a second time to just as we were ordering. And i have to say - yes, i agree. I would pass unless if it was to try their cake and...
Read moreWe decided to try this contemporary cafe situated in Bukit Jalil. This uptrend cafe serves really good cakes, delicious food and superb drinks. The only negative we found is that the coffee section closes at 6pm even though the cafe closes only at 2am. The service here is impeccable and efficient. The staff are very attentive to your every need. Recommended food items are the pumpkin risotto, mala fried chicken, lotus root salted egg chips, curly fries, crab kam heong fried rice, spicy peranakan prawn rice and the truffle carbonara. The risotto is creamy perfect with the optimum level "Al dente" of the arborio rice paired with sweet pumpkin. The kam heong fried rice packs a decent level of spiciness with a somewhat minute amount of crab and slightly dry as well. The Biscoff raspberry cake was sweet with a decent amount of Biscoff biscuit crumbs, complemented with a Biscoff biscuit on top. The salted caramel cake was awesome as well laced with the perfect amount of sweetness and saltiness leaving a really good aftertaste in our palate. The spicy Peranakan prawn had a decent amount of heat, but it tasted more of sweet Thai chilli sauce. Pricing is decent considering the modern type of cafe to chill. Will be back soon to try the other food items. Recommended as well is the Spanish prawns with sourdough bread and the Barramundi (siakap fish) with Chilli Garam. There's also a live band starting at 8pm, not sure daily or certain days and...
Read moreThis cafe has a hugeee space and it was full house on a Sunday. I expected a long queue and bad service because there were many people waiting in line. It was jus one of those days whr I did not make reservation for lunch on a weekend, guess I really didnt have much choice but wait . We were a family of 6+1 toddler, but to my surprise the queue time was only 10mins and we were seated comfortably. The staff did inform is food may be slow but the food we ordered came pretty on time and not late at all! This was in fact my second time at Oomph and both times their service did not disappoint me. Food wise was good ! I had little expectation for many new cafes out there because its always pastries and coffee and basic pasta. Oomph outdone this , and every pasta we ordered was great! The fried chicken was on point and blended so well with the aglip olio saghetti. Meatball pomodoro could have a lil bouncier texture but otherwise it was well done in terms of sauce and flavor. The croissant was delish! We ordered hummus croissant and had to order extra because the croissant was so flaky and rich in butter flavor it was just amazing. I personally think their service is commendable despite peak hour they manage to serve us well and we didnt feel like we waited at all. Kudos to rhe team , and thank god theres finally a good cafe in Bukit Jalil. I...
