Around 10pm last night, I left NeroNero restaurant (DC Mall). Together with six other friends, we got into the lift to head down to the carpark. At Level Two, a man, maybe in his early 30s, very tanned complexion, 5ft tall, entered the lift. He was carrying a bag in one hand and had KNIFE in the other.
As he proceeded to take another step into the lift, he tried to conceal the knife behind his back. I immediately stepped out of the lift and told my friends to get out (the girls at the back obviously couldn't see the knife). For obvious safety reasons, we didn't engage with the man or confront him. According to my friend, who also spotted the knife, and had a better look at his face, he had shifty eyes (looked like he was high on drugs).
We then took the escalator down to Level One. My friends went to pay for their parking tickets while I walked over to the indoor concierge where two security guards and a cleaner were standing and chatting. I told them what I saw -- both in Malay and English. It took them a full minute to react -- not with concern or urgency -- one security guard just SHRUGGED. Neither of them bothered to ask further questions (the man's description, etc). So I had to REPEAT the story (by now, if the knife guy was violent, someone would've been hurt while the security guards just played dumb). And I repeated the keywords "DANGEROUS" and "knife" while acting out a 'stabbing' gesture and asking if they understood what I was saying. They say, 'Yes'. The cleaner looked way more concerned than the security guards.
As I walked away from the security guards, a minute later, the cleaner follows behind, LEADING the two security guards. One guard was saying something into his walkie talkie (again, didn't sound urgent). I pointed out the lift where I spotted the armed man, but only the cleaner went up. The two security guards just strolled back to the information centre.
What are you going to do about this, DC Mall Management? How do you expect people to frequent your F&B tenants when our safety clearly isn't of importance? My friends and I will definitely look into other venues outside of DC Mall from now on after last night's incidents -- both with the armed man and the blasé attitude of your...
Read moreDamansara is basically the Gulshan of Malaysia, but 10 times elevated. So, yeah, everything is beautiful and clean and convenient. If someone else would describe Damansara to you, maybe they would use other metaphors. But my Bangladeshi brain can only relate to things I have been familiar with.
So, this mall has everything - from hair clips to dustbin. It has things you need to sustain yourself on a day-to-day basis, also enough beauty and calmness for you and your lover to have a wonderful date in. Yeah, dating in a mall doesn't sound romantic. But visit this place someday. You'll see why.
They have plenty of restaurants and coffee shops of all range. Whether you're low on your budget or have some good bucks to spend, you'll find it all there.
They have well-constructed and properly aisled grocery shop. In these places, you can find familiar foods and fruits also very, very weird foods as well (do not buy the sambal cookies, they are not worth it. Talking from experience haha)[buy the fortune cookies, taste is okay, but having cheets inside cookies that tell you all the nice things in the world is quite good in my opinion].
It's situated so close to the Damansara MRT. You'd know you're close to the mall when you see "DAMANSARA CITY" hanging on top of an foot-over bridge. It's either on that side of the road you're at or just the opposite (it clearly depends on where you're standing/sitting/driving)
Location, convenient. Every local people can give you the direction. Call a grab and be here. Or get an MRT. If you haven't been to the Mall yet, you should. Get a little posh flavour amidst the necessity. Take some time to unwind. You wont be...
Read moreCame on Sunday 30/9/2018 1:45pm for lunch. Parked in a row of cars near Entrance B which was quite empty at that time. Came out at 3pm to go home and suddenly a man (Malay ethnicity, heavy set, face with acne scars) on a motorcycle drove up to block my exit.
He demanded I pay him RM15 or else he would clamp my car and charge RM50 because I parked in the "valet zone". I was suspicious and I asked him why he did not give me an entry ticket when I first arrived. He became defensive, pulled a parking ticket out of no where to show my number plate and time of entry and yelled at me to follow him to the office to be clamped. He got on his bike to lead me to his office. At this point I had even more suspicions and decided I would drive off slowly as I though he was scamming me.
Just as I drove off he followed me on his bike and swerved in front of my car to block my exit. He took out an iron chain to hit my car front right side and got off his motorcycle and yanked my car door open (I unfortunately did not lock it in my state of panic). Luckily there was another car behind me which was a witness and I yelled "DON'T TOUCH ME". He held out his hand and yelled I make payment or the barriers will not let me out. I handed over the RM15 and he drove off coming back to give me a receipt. As I drove out, there were no barriers.
The receipt number is P0S0/20008 issued by Parking Valet Sdn Bhd. It's very strange that a valet does not approach me as I enter the parking alot and only does so after I am about to leave.
Should I be filing charges as this is intimidation and borderline physical assault? This is very likely the first and last time I come...
