TLDR: Overall the ingredients are fresh and good, the ambience is nice, the presentation is nice, the servers are very, very nice and polite. I would return again to try every single thing on the menu.

Texture-wise really good (I'm a huge texture person). Flavour-wise kinda meh. We ordered the miso & gac noodles and the tan tan noodles. But the flavour difference was so subtle that they actually tasted the same haha... The gyoza was also quite plain. I don't know, maybe I'm used to stronger flavours. There was a long queue and they said they only take reservations for dinner. There was a 3 person group in front of me before 2 pm on a Sunday and they were only seated 1 hr later.
The dessert was really nice matcha. We had regular tea for drinks but that was surprisingly tasteless? Maybe I should have ordered their fancier matcha (in other words, don't get their cheapest drink). Min item cost on the menu is RM10 and overall a bit pricey. We had 2 bowl noodles, 2 regular green tea, 1 gyoza, 1 dessert, total cost almost RM100.
I went back a second time because I genuinely enjoyed my experience despite all that (plus as a vegan, this place is heaven sent for me, not having to worry about sneaky meat, eggs or dairy)!
This time I ordered their mala ramen. The base still tastes like the same broth, but with mala on top. I liked this much better than the previous 2 ramen I tried because the mala makes a huge difference. If you want a stronger flavour – this is for you! However this place does not serve garlic/onions so don't expect anything that strong (their kimchi is mildly flavoured but I like that). I also ordered their matcha latte with oat milk, this time a much better experience than my last visit.
It's very likely they've received feedback about similar issues I've experienced from my first visit (someone else told me they share the same opinion when I shared my initial feedback elsewhere). So during my second visit, they informed me beforehand that dining in is limited to 1 hr only, and after my meal they asked for feedback directly on how they can improve. I liked the ramen this time so I told them that it's nice...

Here’s what I tried:
Truffle Ramen (RM35) - The fragrant and savoury goodness, light mouthfeel of the truffle infused walnut mylk really transcends to many notes of umami. The combination of charred vegetables, mushrooms and that al-dente ramen was perfect. I practically licked the bowl dry.
Yuzu Kosho Ramen (RM32) - Think ramen but with a tangy aftertaste, it’s pretty refreshing.
Unagi Kabayaki (RM20) - Handcrafted grilled fillet which I think it’s some sort of tofu glazed with a rich and savoury kabayaki sauce. TBH, I prefer this more than actual Unagi. IKR.
Yaki-Gyoza (RM18/6 pieces) - Thin gyoza wrapper with the most flavourful vegetable filling. It’s juicy and addictive, be sure to eat it while it hot and fresh.
Deep Fried ToFysh (RM16) - Nicely seasoned breaded batter of the ToFysh which is basically firm tofu. I don’t hate it, I see where it’s heading to with the tartar, but I’m not too sure whether it hit the spot.
Agedashi Tofu (RM12) - Battered & Fried soft tofu over a savoury clear soy broth. The batter gets a bit too chewy for my liking and I’m not a fan of the texture. In general, I think agedashi tofu isn’t my thing.
Dessert - ok, for the desserts that I ordered, both comes with Kuromitsu aka Japanese Black Sugar and I’m sorry but I’m not a fan. It’s giving cough medicine (pipagao) flavour. I just couldn’t.
Japanese Soymylk Pudding (RM12) - I actually like the pudding on its own, it has good texture and flavour. Sakura Raindrop (RM10) - Water-jelly like texture and that faint Sakura hint 💯, I prefer it plain; but you’re supposed to eat it with the kinako (toasted soybean flour) and kuromitsu.
*They serve free water 💦
I would come back for their hot food 😌✨. Oh and I love their attention to detail, I wore white and they gave me a bib 🥺

Read moreTowzen is a pocket of peace in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The moment I stepped inside, I felt it. The space is small, but instead of cramped, it feels intimate, fresh, and thoughtfully designed. Soft colors, minimalist Japanese aesthetics, and that cozy cubby-style seating where you can tuck your feet in—it all comes together to create an atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile.
I started with the Japanese potato salad, and it was the kind of appetizer that knows its role: subtle, refreshing, and the perfect warm-up act. Crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and a creamy, delicate potato mix that gently prepped my palate for what was coming next. And then—boom—the curry ramen arrived. One sip of that broth and I knew I was in for something special. It was bold, fiery, and packed with layers of deep, soul-hugging flavor. The noodles were just right, and the vegetables added the perfect balance. I slurped it down with zero shame, chasing every last drop like it was a rare treasure.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, the vegan matcha ice cream arrived. Creamy, rich, and packed with that unmistakable deep matcha goodness. Each spoonful was pure bliss, and by the time I reached the bottom, I was scraping the bowl like it owed me money. If it weren’t for decorum, I would’ve licked it clean.
Towzen delivers on every level—ambiance, flavor, and that quiet kind of joy that makes a meal unforgettable. The servers were amazingly present throughout my whole experience. And if you rat at the bar you can see all the magical orchestration coming together.
Towzen is an absolute must!!!
