Evaco Beach Club "La Plage" — Attraction in Isle Mauritius

I went there with my colleagues. We booked and sent our order in advance and asked the person in charge to ready our meals by noon since we only have 1 hour lunch. Unfortunately when we reached, our food wasn't ready and it took around 30mins before we were served. I ordered a grilled calamari steak with mushroom sauce and was wrongly served the sauce. After pointing out the mistake, my plate was taken, the red sauce scraped off and they added mushroom sauce on top of that. This type of service doesn't suit the image and quality that the beach club is trying to portray. On top of that, one of my colleague was served 10mins after us when we were halfway done with our food.

Overall, the food was very mediocre. Eatable but definitely not recommendable. Elastic calamari with a very thin and diluted mushroom sauce which was barely enough for the whole steak - same deduction for the beef steak. My colleagues who ordered their 'poisson du jour grillé' were also very disappointed both by its taste and quantity. Our cocktails were very good on the other hand. I ordered a Pomojito which is the virgin version of an apple mojito and it was excellent. I was served a big glass which is totally coherent which the charged price.

The best aspect of the beach club is its location and decoration. Very breezy and summery looking in tones of white and wood - this place will make you want to dwell there and not ever leave. It's best to be seated outside when going to eat at La Plage under their kiosks lined with thin white curtains. The waiter we had was a young boy with glasses (I didn't catch him name), he was very helpful and pleasant.

Disappointing Service Experience

I am writing to share my recent experience at your establishment on 2 Jan 2024.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, my companions and I noticed that all the waitstaff seemed busy cleaning and were seemingly unaware of the waiting guests. In order to receive assistance, we approached one of the waiters who advised us to order directly from the bar. Following his suggestion, we proceeded with our order, hoping for a pleasant dining experience.

After some time had passed, we decided to check on our order and retrieve the drinks ourselves. To our surprise, the manager, instead of understanding our situation, addressed us in an unprofessional and disrespectful manner. He admonished us, stating that this establishment is not McDonald's and proceeded to vent his frustrations about other guests.

We were taken aback by this outburst as we were merely trying to communicate our understanding and willingness to wait patiently. The manager's behavior left us feeling disrespected and disappointed. We believe that such unprofessional conduct is not expected or acceptable, particularly in a beach club setting.

As loyal customers, we have always enjoyed our visits to the beach club restaurant, appreciating the ambiance and the service in the past. However, our recent encounter with the manager has cast a shadow on our overall impression. We kindly request that you address this issue and ensure that such incidents do not occur...

Very bad experience! Went there as a group of around 15 people to celebrate a birthday but whole experience was very disappointing.

The waiter, Kanden, had a whole condescending attitude towards us during the entirety of our time there, making us feel very unwelcome. We paid Rs 2400 only for cork fees and yet, he made it seem like he was doing us a favor bringing in wine glasses. Likewise, even after paying a fee for bringing in a cake, we had to convince the latter to set up the cake elsewhere than on the messy table we just had lunch on. He blatantly reproached us of having to clean all over again (thing which did not make sense).

The food as well was very disappointing, even below expected standard. The Pad Kee Mao was very sweet though described as spicy and calamari very rubbery. Not to mention the Médaillon d'Agneau lead to an upset stomach for one of us.

Overall, not recommended! Poor service and poor...
