The Melbourne Skydeck is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences in the heart of Melbourne. As a frequent visitor to this iconic attraction, I can confidently say that it offers an unparalleled perspective of the city's skyline and beyond. Perched atop the Eureka Tower, the Melbourne Skydeck boasts the title of being the highest public vantage point in the Southern Hemisphere. From its observation deck on the 88th floor, visitors are treated to panoramic views stretching as far as the eye can see. The sweeping vistas encompass Melbourne's iconic landmarks, including Federation Square, the Yarra River, and the sprawling suburbs, creating a mesmerizing tapestry of urban beauty. One of the standout features of the Skydeck is its awe-inspiring Edge Experience. Suspended almost 300 meters above ground, this glass-bottomed observation cube extends out from the building, offering a thrilling sensation of floating above the city. It was truly an unforgettable experience. The highlight of the skydeck undoubtedly lies in its mesmerizing glass floor section, an absolute must-see that requires an additional ticket. However, do keep in mind that visiting on a weekend meant we had to patiently wait for approximately 45 minutes before accessing the exhilarating glass floor area. But the anticipation was well worth it! Stepping onto the transparent surface, we were instantly immersed in a surreal sensation of walking on air, gazing down at the sprawling cityscape beneath our feet. It's an absolute thrill for those seeking an adrenaline rush or a unique perspective of the world below. Moreover, beyond the glass floor, there's yet another delightful section where an iron mesh encloses the space, allowing visitors to relish the refreshing breeze while taking in the breathtaking panoramic views. This area offers a sense of freedom and connection with the surrounding environment that is truly invigorating. To add to the experience, the skydeck also features a charming small café and an inviting ice cream stall situated on the 88th floor. Whether you're in the mood for a warm cup of coffee or craving a delectable frozen treat, these culinary delights provide the perfect accompaniment to your sky-high adventure. All in all, the skydeck offers an enchanting experience that goes beyond expectations. From the awe-inspiring glass floor to the captivating iron mesh area and delightful culinary offerings, it's an absolute must-visit destination for anyone seeking both thrills and tranquility in a truly breathtaking setting."

I had the opportunity to enjoy what should’ve been the Ultimate Skydeck Experience. I made a reservation for 27th December, fully aware that it’d be crowded due to the holiday season. However, I quickly realised that booking in advance didn’t offer much of an advantage. The line to enter was over 50 minutes long, and anyone could buy tickets at the front desk, meaning there was no priority for those who had already reserved. It’d be great if Skydeck could consider implementing a time-slot reservation system, where visitors can choose a specific time to attend. This would help manage the crowds and reduce the long wait times, which could easily exceed an hour. Once I reached the 88th floor, the situation didn’t improve. The observation deck was overcrowded, and the poor crowd management from the start made it difficult for everyone to enjoy the experience. It’s frustrating when people become inconsiderate and selfish, and it impacts the overall atmosphere. Visitors were often blocking views and taking more time than they should, making the experience feel overwhelming rather than enjoyable. That said, I do want to commend the staff. Despite the chaos, they maintained a friendly and professional attitude, which helped make the visit more pleasant in spite of the crowds. In summary, Skydeck has immense potential, but there are definitely areas that could be improved, especially regarding crowd management and reservations.
