Had plenty of good experiences at Doodee in the past (more than 20 times dine in or ordering take away) until today. But I guess today is the last time of us going there.
We ordered green mango salad which was my favourite dish. When I had the first bite, it was so sour and astringent that I can hardly swallow it, tried again and it was the same. As I had the dish many times before from Doodee and other Thai restaurant, it was never like this before. I kindly asked my partner (who is Thai) to try and she felt the same way, the mango is not ready to be served as it’s too astringent. We kindly asked the waitress to add more sugar see if it will be come eatable. They return back to us with another plate (according to them they made a new one). But it tastes exactly the same as before. It is not about the source or taste, the fact is the green mango used in the salad is not ready to be served yet, and it should not be served. I kindly asked the staff to change this to a papaya salad or something so at least we can eat, never asked a refund. The staff refused and told us we can buy another dish if we like and brought over the manager, who is extremely arrogant and started to speak Thai to me. I kindly asked to speak English again and again and he said ‘we exchanged for you once hence we will not do again. The dish is normal’.
Doing this to a regular customer who supported your business throughout COVID and treat us like someone who begged for food is beyond ridiculous. This is Australia and you should learn how to behave to customers and control the quality of your food rather than ignore customer's feedback. We left with the dish almost untouched and yeah, guess we will not come back again nor recommend this place to anyone else. A plate of mango salads weigh more important in this restaurant than a loyal customer’s genuine feedback.
And yes we have to eat somewhere else to finish off our dinner. What a funny experience here. The manager decides if the food is okay to be eaten or not by if they exchanged for you. I even tried to explain to him we have been here many times and ordered the same dish many times, we were trying to provide a genuine feedback but I guess it’s not important for him as it’s not his business and our feedback is just trouble for him.

Read moreDo Dee Paidang Melbourne, just landed their first branch in Melbourne recently (September 2017). It was located in 353 Little Collins street in the ground floor. The place was very spacious, definitely suitable for small to big group of people. It was a humble looking place, not a fancy restaurant which was good and felt so homey. The speed of customer service was really fast, unfortunately it was inaccurate.
We got the wrong order few times and they had to resend the food, in the end we had to cancel the order. It was pretty disorganised.
We ordered: Grilled Meat Ball (pork) for $2.00. The skewer meat ball was nicely grilled and well seasoned. The pork meat ball was very nice, juicy and must try. It had reasonable price for this taste and quality.
Do Dee Monster (Tom Yum Spicy Noodle, level 1) using Thin rice noodle for $7.50. For some reasons, the level 1 of Do Dee Monster was slighly spicier compared to Do Dee Glass Noodle. It was still bearable for beginner, the Tom Yum based soup had a unique and delicious taste. It was completely different taste from the normal Tom Yum soup.
Do Dee Glass Noodle (Tom Yum with Glass Noodle) for $7.50. The taste was absolutely fantastic, the sweet and sour was balance. For a level 1 spiciness level, it was pretty good for beginner as we could enjoy every sip of the soup base. The meat balls were very tender and juicy. Yummmmyyy!!!
Overall, both dishes ordered were really nice and we enjoyed that. Unfortunately, the regular portion of both dishes were too small and we slightly disappointed when we saw the portion.
They have only 2 sizes (regular and large), the regular was too small and the large was too much. We reckoned, it would be better to come up with 3 different sizes : small, regular and large.
Price: 3.0 Taste: 4.0 Speed: 3.0 Service: 2.0
Yay: Great taste of the Tom Yum soup base Nay: Poor customer service (fast...
Read moreThe restaurant seems always full during lunch time, but they have many tables to accommodate a lot of people, small or big group. The waiting time is not too long either. You have to order online and very common no phone signal since it’s in basement, but don’t worry, they provide free wifi. Your order won’t be prepared till you paid the order. You can pay by credit card (with surcharge) or by cash (get discount and go to the counter). Your order could be served to you by the servants or by the robot (it shows ur table). It’s cool! Self service for the chilli.
We ordered spicy pork bone soup. And this is the second time we had it. The soup was very fresh and tasty. Though it’s bone soup, it has plenty meat. Would prefer the meat to be cooked a bit longer so it would be very tender and fell off the bone easily. The first time we tried it was very tender.
The Som Tum Thai - green papaya salad was fresh and tasty too. Green papaya was a bit bitter this time, but still ok.
The steamed barramundi with lemon juice was fresh, tasty and yummy. It came with broccoli. The fish was melted in the mouth, very soft. The fish was big too, enough for 6 people.
The crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli was superb! Big chunk of crispy pork stir fry with Chinese broccoli and oyster sauce, Yumm!
Bbq pork neck was well marinated and grilled. The meat was tender.
The fried rice was nice and big portion. You can choose the meat. Vegetable and tofu, chicken, beef (same price). Crispy pork, prawns, seafood (extra price). Would recommend the Pad See Ew, my son loves it. Though the portion is much less than before.
Noodle soups are nice too. If you dare, try the super nova level of spice 🤪 mine is only devil level.
Pad Thai is average I think.
Sticky rice durian, very small serve of durian 😅
