I recently visited the Mission of Our Lady of Loreto and was blown away by the beautiful architecture and rich history of the site. The mission, also known as Misión de Nuestra Señora de Loreto, was founded in 1697 and is one of the oldest Spanish missions in California.

The mission is located in Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico and is a popular tourist destination. Upon arriving at the mission, I was immediately struck by the stunning facade of the building, which is adorned with intricate carvings and detailed frescoes.

Inside, the mission is filled with beautiful artwork and artifacts, including historic religious paintings and statues.

Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the Mission of Our Lady of Loreto to anyone interested in history, architecture, or spiritual experiences. It is a truly unique and memorable...

Historical beginning of the legendary Camino Real! This is the first church of the Jesuits, who are remembered positively by most Loretans. Very simple & down-to-earth church, still the heart of the community of Loreto. Dec 1st, the priest blesses up to 100 riders and their horses for their annual procession up the Giganta Mountains to the 2nd-built church, San Javier! Very impressive & local. Not done for the tourists & I felt honored to witness a bit of it. The procession lasted 3 days ( La Cabalgada- in tribute to patron Saint Javier). Along the way, they stopped at special ranch to rest, eat & party! The Californios (ranch families) have a rich & unique desert culture of survival, cooperation & harmony with the environment. See books & documentaries on this local culture, especially from Harry Crosby &...
