Playa Palmilla is one of the best beaches in Cabo if you actually want to get in the water. Unlike many other beaches in the area where swimming is unsafe due to strong waves, Palmilla has calm waters that are perfect for families, kids, and anyone looking to relax. We finally had the chance to let the kids swim here, and it was the highlight of our trip.
The beach is clean, safe, and has a mix of locals and tourists which gives it a laid-back vibe. There are shaded palapas and plenty of space to set up if you bring your own umbrella or chairs. Vendors walk by selling snacks, drinks, and souvenirs, but they’re not pushy.
Tips for visitors: • Parking is free and there’s a designated lot, but it can fill up quickly on weekends—arrive early. • No big restaurants on the sand, so bring snacks, drinks, and plenty of water. • Restrooms are available near the parking area. Warning they are porta potties. • Great spot to bring snorkeling gear—the water is usually clear and calm enough to explore.

Read moreGreat family beach. I liked it better than Santa Maria just because the waves are a bit calmer for kids and the sand is soft. At Santa Maria the sand is very coarse and rough. The waves are still rough and you still have to be very careful and have an adult with them, in my opinion, but this is as calm as it’s going to get in Los Cabos. It is swimmable once you go over that shore wave, the kids and people just float, it’s very nice. The bathrooms are very clean and there are showers to get sand off. The water is super blue clear and beautiful. There is no food sold on beach but you can bring food in which is what everyone does. My 9 year old son absolutely loved it. There are also palapas on the beach that if you get there early enough you can grab one. The beach starting getting very busy around 1:00 pm. We got there at 10:00 am and there were not many people there at...
Read moreThe beach is beautiful and the water is clear, which makes for a day of laying on the beach, but the current and undertow are very strong and not safe for kids. I’m a big guy and was pulled out a couple times. Your kids can walk on the water coming up on the beach but going in the water be careful. If you go in 15 ft the water is at least 5 ft deep. For snorkeling it would be a fantastic place, but for a kids day in the beach we re going...
