I really enjoyed my stay here. I came as a solo guest for 6 days . The negative feedback about check in and front desk are true in terms of very slow unenthusiastic help. The pools and property are really nice, modern and clean. The buffet is excellent, the best I have experienced anywhere in terms of fresh nutritious food thus far. The wifi is perfect making it promising for those who have to work using video conferencing while here. The beach is very well kept compared to the other nearby hotels, the seaweed is removed every day. The shore has old coral or rock formations but I find this nice giving it a more wild appearance. It is lovely to sit on the rocks and enjoy the crashing waves. The gym need an update it is very small and there isn’t proper room to do weight training without getting in peoples way. Please throw out the three yoga mat’s they are dirty and falling apart, but essential to workout properly. I was tempted to throw them away myself lol! Also purchase some heavier weights the highest ones are 10kg perhaps also some 12-20kgs and have somone clean them well each day. All in all a great place I would definitely return for a simple boutique experience. Most of the staff are unilingual but most try their best to communicate, some are not friendly to the non locals but I would just avoid them and go to another bar instead, their loss! (Example cranky beach bar men bartenders I found the female bar staff way better and friendly than the men). I stayed on the ocean front rooms on the second floor and would choose the same on the next visit. Would be nice to have espresso available such as a proper all inclusive cafe on site. The Starbucks is not nice. When I let the cleaning crew in the room they kept my towels and didn’t replace any so I put a do not disturb sign on my door for the rest of the stay to not have to worry about the non replacement of essentials. Little quirks for sure but still worth the headache. I suggest having some kind of digital check in so guests are not standing for an hour in the hot lobby that was not pleasant after very long morning of flying! Also when I got up to the counter I was told check in is only at 3 but it was 2:30pm. Please consider keeping fresh water station for those waiting in line to check in, when I arrived that water was empty and I started to feel faint after 45 minutes of waiting. Again lots of positives, more so than any negatives and the ambience is very nice and classy as well. The majority of patrons are Latin but I enjoyed this as I was looking for tranquility not social partying. Beautiful place and decent price. **Miguel Simonesa was a wonderful and kind server every evening who knew exactly what I drank and went out of his way to show hospitality. Hire more wonderful staff like Miguel or have him train the young ones! :) I got lucky with my check out it was quick and no line ups as I departed Sunday morning. Please be aware as of the date of this review the hotel removed the only bank machine on site! There is no way to pull out money except across the street at the deli however those machines did not work with my debit or credit cards either. I had to reserve a taxi that too credit card payments. Hopefully they will quickly replace the ATM for international clients.

This hotel was cheap which is why I booked it for just one night before I had to catch a 6 am flight- you get what you pay for. Above all else the standpoint was how poor the staff functioned and their complete lack of hospitality. Front desk- Maria with the glasses checked me in. She told me room and wrote down room E206. I went there and it was being serviced I waited outside the room for 15 min until I was told by cleaning staff to get another room. Went back to front desk and Maria acted like I was crazy saying it was always room 203 never 206 which she wrote down (see pics). Finally got into the correct room. Additionally my friend who was with me at checkin who was leaving later that night was told they didn’t need a wrist band it was not needed, they could hang out with me during the day since I’m a guest and had a room etc. They literally said it was no problem at all. In the middle of ordering lunch a security guard came up to us and cornered us- I thought he was going to physically remove my friend as he did not have a wrist band. The security guard was very aggressive. I had to put all my stuff down go all the way back to front desk (different building a lot of steps) and straighten it out with reception. The same Maria who gave me wrong room number and no information whatsoever at checkin also failed to give my friend a day pass bracelet which was in-fact necessary so that wasted half an hour. Towel station- same towels that are in bathrooms are available for pool and beach. The woman who was at the towel station was straight up nasty and would not allow more than one towel per person. I understand that probably is hotel policy but she chased me down along the pool to get the extra towel I had which apparently I couldn’t do. Bartenders- the beach bartender was super nice. The bartenders by the pool all seemed super confused. I was not an all inclusive guest so I had a red wristband on. The hotel would not let me charge anything to the room despite having to fill out a receipt with tip, room number name and sign it. I had to carry my credit card in the pool, on the beach, etc. it was very odd not to just put it to the room. Checkout- no offer to help with bags or a taxi. I asked for a water they said no. Most of the guests spoke Spanish and not many staff spoke English which who can blame them it was just interesting difference between this hotel and others in the area I have been to. The hotel itself- Pool- hot tub portion of pool was very dirty with lots of dead bugs and not actually warm just had jets. It wouldn’t be bad if it wasn’t so dirty. Pool itself was fine, very cold. Beach front- was nice but very very few chairs and umbrellas absolutely lot even enough for half the guests as the hotel is multiple buildings. Many guests like myself had to sit one the sand with their one towel which was not a nice experience. Sitting on one wet towel with no reprieve all day stunk. There are a lot of steps all over the property to get from one building and level to the next- Lobby- to pool- to beach- etc. Difficult to carry bags all over, not great for elderly. Room- bedding was and smelled very clean. Mattress was ok. Otherwise old/ dated and no frills but clean which is super important. Food- pasta and nachos were edible. The flan was so bad I threw it out. One water per person was in the room. Overall the service and complete lack of care for guest experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I will not be returning here ever. Overall it reminded me of a motel that would be on the New Jersey Shore- where young people (ie spring break) go because they don’t know and can’t afford better. Do not come here for a relaxing adult or family vacation.

Shoutout to the people who did make this a great experience - our favorites were Gael Garcia, Carlos Alverez, & Jose Bakk. Check-in was easy, we were there in mid-season (middle Jan). Employees are kind for the most part. Either they’re very nice & helpful, or they hate you if you can’t speak Spanish. There were a couple of times that my friend & I ordered drinks then got ignored & had to have our Mexican friend order the drinks again. *****Make sure you chose the all inclusive option! We booked on Priceline & it was not clear that we were not purchasing the all-inclusive option. We then had to pay more to upgrade once we checked-in. Food is good, definitely better than some all-inclusives. Make sure you bring cash to tip in-resort and to purchase other cash-only things outside the resort. The hotel ATM was broken all 4 days we were there. You get a towel card per person & that card gets you your one beach/pool towel. If you don’t turn it in at check-out you’ll be charged. I didn’t like this because we had to protect our towels/worry about leaving them behind. Do not order room service. It is an extra $17 each time you order even with all-inclusive. It took over an hour to be delivered. And the burgers might have been microwaved. We barely ended up eating them. Fries were good! Restaurants at the hotel - reservations needed & you can only make the reservation once you’re checked in. Make sure you do this ASAP because they do get booked. Even with a reservation, every restaurant has a lot of menu items not included (no choice of wine other than the house blend, no nicer entrees such as salmon or lobster or dessert). The best restaurant, Fasano, is possibly impossible to get a reservation at even though it’s 70% empty every night. If you stay at this resort, make sure you are OK with stairs because there are a ton of them! Beautiful beach view & it’s very nice how they clean up the seaweed every morning leaving it clean. When we were there, every day there were huge waves so you couldn’t go out far at all in the water.

We arrived to the hotel on May 16, 2022 at about 3-3:30pm. The reception desk was packed with around 20-30 people, there was no AC and it was a very small area…taking into consideration how big the hotel is. The check in alone took about 1hr- 1hr 30 min. It was a pain, especially because it is HOT in the lobby. Several customers had a bad experience on this exact date and time because a female decided it was ok to cut in line, lie and say that she had been waiting there for 5hrs…. Even though none of the people waiting there had seen her. The worst part was that the manager Carlos Villa, allowed her to cut in front of other people and attended to her EVEN THOUGH, several people told the manager that she cut in line and had not been waiting in line for more that 30 min. It was a mess. Regardless, the manager did not care and let her and her partner cut. That was already a bad start to our stay. The room was nice and spacious. The view was espectacular!! We got an ocean front view room. There was tiny tiny ants in the room that you would occasionally see. A nice lady came into the room to clean the bed and replace any towels needed as well as to take trash out, very kind. We stayed a total of 5 days. On day 3 and 4 of our stay while wanting to take a shower at about 4pm the water was cold, we turned it on to the hot setting but it never got warm or hot, we tried again to turn on water at about 11pm and once again the water never got hot or warm. We did not get warm water again until the morning of our last day at the hotel. There are 3 hot tubs at this hotel, and 3 regular pools. They were all nice and spacious. I’m not sure if we will stay here again but we shall see. The bell boy that helped us with our luggages was a nice, welcoming man(he was was older man, on the shorter side with glasses) Thank you! One thing I loved is how close the OXXO is to the hotel, it’s like a 5 minute walk or less from your room to the convenience store.

-TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE- My fiancé and I booked in advance the Deluxe King Suite with Sea View Non smoking and this is our story. We landed yesterday at night and were looking forward for our stay at Hotel Emporio Cancun. At the counter for our check-in, everything seemed fine and they confirmed our choice of room : the Sea View (which we paid extra for). But once we arrive at our room, we have a concrete view ?!? So I called the reception, and they explain that they had no more Sea View rooms and that’s why they gave us that one. I then explain to them that we paid extra for it and would appreciate having the room we PAID FOR, or a compensation. They answer by saying that the hotel is full and have no other room to transfer us and that they would offer us the breakfast for free. This by all mean doesn’t even comes close to cover the extra money we had to pay for that room. We declined, and they said that we would have to talk to a manager in the morning. As we’re going to get to sleep, I verify that the entry door and outside door are both locked and see that the one that opens on an area that anyone came come in, can’t be locked. It is broken and there is no way of locking it. So, I called back the office and they sent someone to put sticks to make it secure juste for the night. (He was very nice and very comprehensive of the situation). But by the time it was all done, it was 3h30 in the morning and I was so disappointed. For us, security is the most important thing. The morning after after complaining , they finally agreed to transferring us to the room we paid for. But it was not before 1h30 pm that we were transferred. They still refuse to reimburse for the extra we paid on the first night for a lesser room. Overall we’re very disappointed and won’t be returning. We’re just happy we had at least a day in the room we paid for. The beach is absolutely beautiful. If it was not of all this, our stay would have been a lot better !
