What can I say about Sarajevo. As a serious foody, chef and a long time manager of multiple customer service based businesses... I have a love/hate relationship to this place. The food flavor is really good, although their menu could really use an update to accommodate the thousands of 'health conscious" tourists that specifically come to San Cristobal for alternative, holistic ecotourism. More gluten-free and vegan items should definitely be a staple here. The decor and space are just truly absolutely beautiful (and that's really what keeps bringing me and many of my disgruntled friends back.) The service however at this place is the absolute worst. I've been here about 25+ times and they ALMOST NEVER get my order right lol And they refuse to take responsibility for their mistakes and argue with customers. The management (mostly this Mexicana about age 30 with dark hair) straight up needs to be changed there. They made one small improvement recently by adding a girl named Phillipa (hope I spelled that correctly) to the staff. She is nice and polite and acts as an buffer between their largely expat customer base and the largely Mexican staff that don't speak much English at all. I'm alllllll for giving the jobs to the locals 100%, but if your store attracts many many foreigners it would be wise to pick staff members who speak English and train them in appropriate customer service and international food trends. Especially with how posh and pricey this place is, it will do their business wonders to invest in better customer service training and studying and catering to the market of customers rolling through...
Read moreA lovely café and restaurant with a beautiful and unique interior design. Plenty of spaces to eat, drink and relax.
Prices are quite fair, given the nice setup. During weekdays, they offer a good value menu del dia for 145 pesos between 1pm and 6pm (soup, main dish, agua del dia and coffee or tea). The coffee is only served upon request, you won't be asked automatically.
I liked all the food that I ate there and came several times. There are also healthy options.
Service quality is hit or miss - sometimes very fast, sometimes you have to ask two or three times for the same thing. This is somewhat disappointing, especially when you see plenty of staff members hanging around and the place is not too busy. However, staff is friendly.
I once came at 13:00 to eat lunch, but at this time, only the breakfast menu was available. Apparently, they switch menus at 13:30.
Card payment is possible at no extra charge. WiFi was pretty good during most of the time, which is a nice thing in San Cris and Chiapas in general.
With more attentive and faster service, this place would...
Read moreThis was our second time at sarajevo, we went back because the first time the food was delicious but this time we were greatly disappointed. The tomato cream tastes like mushroom cream (it used to be so good), the tuna tostadas had way smaller chunks of tuna than the first time, the rice dish is only rice with three bland boiled shrimp plus a head on top, i ate the shrimp and took the rice home to add some flavor to it but unfortunately they gave me a styrofoam box to take it in like it's 1997, now it will outlive me and my grandchildren's grandchildren at the municipal dump. The place is beautifully designed and the ambience is great, the service is meh at most. You better not like ketchup with your overcooked cold burger because if you do you'll have to wait ten minutes for the server to bring you ketchup in tiny plastic packets. They should definitely work on their sustainability. I would like to come back some day if they go back to the quality they started with, (even the water tasted funny) hopefully they won't spit on my food for...
