This is a decent beach located just outside of downtown Zona Romantica.

The sand is soft and clean and the water is clear, clean, and fun to swim in. There are waves that vary in size depending on the time and day. The first time we came here, the waves were minimal, which was nice but then there were tons of jellyfish in the water which mildly stung us!

A moderate amount of people and families can be found here. A few hotels line the beach and there is also one beachfront restaurant. We did not try the food there due to bad reviews but the drinks were decent.

You can also rent an umbrella here (located by the restaurant in one of the small tents selling floaties). The price that I got was $250 pesos and the guy was nice enough to carry the umbrella down the beach for me to a secluded spot and he set it up...

Easily the best beach in Puerto Vallarta. It's about a 15 minute bus ride from Zona Romantica (10 pesos per person). The bus drops you off at playa punta Negra. We liked the beach right inbetween punta Negra and Las palmares. The sand is nice and firm and white. The water is crystal clear. There are no rocks where you seen but there is a semi circle of rocks about 300 yards across and 100 yards out that rings the water. This makes the water so much calmer and provides the best snorkeling we found. If you come here in the morning on a weekday you will probably be the only people there. There are bathrooms, a shower, and a changing room at Las palmares for 5 to 10 pesos a person and it's about a 5 minutes walk from this beach. There is a restaurant there too. Once we found this beach all others paled...

✨ What I Loved:

• Perfect Parking: Easy access and plenty of space—no stress, no circling. • Blue Flag Certified: Clean, safe, and environmentally friendly. You can feel good about being here. • Soft Sand & Emerald Waters: The beach is pristine, with gentle waves and that signature Banderas Bay glow. • Peaceful Vibes: Far less crowded than the northern beaches. It’s ideal for relaxing, reflecting, or just soaking in the sun. • Accessibility Wins: Ramps and facilities make it welcoming for everyone.

🍴 Bonus: Grab a bite at Canto Palmares or from local vendors nearby. The hospitality is top-tier—friendly, attentive, and full of local flavor.

Whether you’re a local or visiting for the first time, Playa Palmares is the kind of place that reminds you why Puerto Vallarta is...

If you are looking for a relaxing beach experience this is the place. Quick and cheap bus ride south of PV. Not crowded at all with few vendors. Ice cream, shrimp on a stick and sweet breads were all that was offered to us... And only once. Soft sand, no steep drop off and warm water. From what we were told it's usually fairly calm waters here. However, the surf was a bit rough on the day we went but the lifeguard took the time to explain to everyone how to swim if caught in a rip current. We didn't find the current too strong and a lot of local kids were still enjoying the water. Our son doesn't know how to swim so he enjoyed playing in the sand, searching for sea glass, and and splashing in the shallows. They have public bathrooms for a small fee as well which is nice.
