If you go there and want to get a decent price, do not speak any English and don’t dress like a tourist, walk-through and don’t ask about anything on the first time through. If you see something you like, on your second trip through look at it point and say “ A cómo” they will name your price and if you like it pay for it. The Longer you stand, there or the more interest you show or if you speak any English, then the prices will most likely go up. (unless they are already marked) which a lot of places do not have prices marked so they’re going to tell you whatever they think they can get out of you. This holds true for every market in Mexico I’ve been in.
I was at the market in a different town and asked them “a cómo”, they said 20 pesos but when my wife asked “how much” in English and I told her 20 pesos, the guy said “I meant 35”. And I said “no gringo precios” and walked away. Just accept it, it’s the way things are.
Also, I went in a back corner of the place and got a shirt for 200 pesos then I walked 100 feet to another stall near the street and the exact same shirt was 1000 pesos.

Read moreStay away from the lady vendors on the north end of the Mercado. They are super rude and arrogant, being that they have enough foot traffic. They signal each other to not sell to you if you are just browsing, if you have kids, forget about it! DO NOT TOUCH! Buy from the main entrance in the south end, you may pay a little more, but you get better service, (go with a little boy around 10 years old, who is great at math) as those vendors are more hospitable. No compren de las señoras al lado norte de el Mercado, son súper groseras y nada amable. Ojalá que lean esto señoras, ya que piensan que no les afecta su comportamiento con los turistas. Nuestros opiniones son muy valiosos...
Read moreGreat place for souvenirs at a slightly higher price than some other places but the convenience of having so many option in one location might make it worth it for some. A tourist would probably find it easier and pay the higher price. A local might know a place to get better prices for the same product. A tip, if you see something you like, ask for the price, leave it and keep walking. It is very likely that another vendor could have the exact product at a lower cost, if not, you can...
