This placed looked great on the outside but beware of what’s within. We stayed here for a night because we saw that it was very highly rated on various sites. The problems started as soon as we got there when the room we originally checked out online wasn’t available so they offered another room worth $600 more pesos. After trying to understand why this happened with the receptionists for a few minutes we decided to just pay the extra money for the other “upgraded” room. In the new room we payed extra for the wifi wasn’t functioning for most of the day. We called and they said they’ed work on it... fine we aren’t spending much time in the room anyway. Finally after a long day and night in the city we’re excited to get some sleep but instead were woken up very early in the morning (before sunrise) to a noise that sounded like very heavy windy rain hitting a window or like a tv with no signal and displays static if the tv was a max volume except it was like 3x louder. It was a pipe outside causing this and it went on for over half an hour. We called the main desk as it was happening and they said they would look into it acting like they did not know what it was. The sound stopped for a few seconds before resuming and so we called again and she said they would send somebody. Of course the sound stopped as the person took their time to get to the room. He mentioned that they were pumping gas through the pipe which was causing the sound. I didn’t understand why they needed to pump gas so early in the morning knowing the kind of sound it makes. This could’ve easily been done at some hour mid day when people are out and about. Anyway this sums up my experience with the hotel and I would not recommend it to anyone because...
Read moreI was robbed in Mexico! Not by burglars on the street, but by the lying hotel managers at Hotel Ali-mediocre. I paid in cash for 3 nights with a Hotels dot com booking and wanted to leave after the first night because of the non stop music reaching my top floor room until 3 am, combined with the paper thin walls that allow you to hear everything in the halls, all mixed with a nice dose of bright light that can’t be blocked by the orphan thin curtains in the room. The only people that can stay here and not mind the light and noise are locals who don’t read reviews and just book it for its central downtown location.
Again, if you pay in cash, be prepared to never get a refund for any reason so pay with your credit card and be safe! Oh wait, the hotel managers here are so shady when they kept making up excuses for why they can’t give me my money back, after a few hours of back n forth with hotel dot com staff and the help of some locals, that I’m sure they would steal your credit card info to screw you since there’s no punishment here in Mexico for legal robbery. If you can read this, be smart and stay away from this place and go for an American place. You can Uber back to your place and not deal with the sorry excuse of rooms they have here that are only appealing to locals who don’t mind music and lights in their room until the late morning. If you are down for a truly second world experience, this...
Read moreWe Had A Bad Experience! We chose the hotel because of the nice reviews and a friend’s recommendation. The staff was nice and welcoming. We really wanted to enjoy our stay, but things just didn’t work out. We paid for a room with a city view. We got room 301, which was on the east side of the hotel and really didn’t offer much of a view. The room was outdated and dirty. I picked up two wads of hair that were in the shower with toilet paper. Things only got worse when it was time to sleep. There was a rock band playing nearby. The loud music and the light coming thru the windows made it impossible to fall asleep. We called reception about getting another room. They told us they couldn’t accommodate us. They could only offer us ear plugs (which didn’t work). At around 12:30 am, we told reception the noise was unbearable. They finally agreed to move us to room 290, which had no windows (a plus at this point) but you could still hear the music. We paid almost US$200 a night for a terrible stay. Breakfast was less than ok. The location is great, but this hotel is way overpriced and outdated. We’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn Express a few hundred feet from this hotel for less and had a much...
