Our tour of the Tehuacan Valley with Biofan was one of the best tours I’ve been on in my life. Our guide, José Martin was friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about not just the flora and fauna, but the geology, history, and culture of the valley and region. The cacti were incredible, the hike through the valley to see the fossils was special, and on our visit to the Elephant Foot Tree forest we learned to distinguish between antholes, scorpion holes, and the various other inhabitants of the dessert. Lunch at Itandehui Flor de Salinas was also a delight—creative, gourmet food in a relaxed setting that matched any other meal we had in Mexico. If you’re in the region or traveling from CDMX or Puebla to Oaxaca, I can’t think of a better way to spend a day

I absolutely loved this tour of the preserve; the guide’s depth of knowledge and love for this area was extraordinary. And the bonus material; a visit at a small salt works operation, and then a visit to a ceramics cooperative, were so cool! I loved learning about how these good folks are making their livelihoods off the earth in sustainable ways. The whole day was enriching, I will never forget it. Next time I will know to book my stay in Tehuacán with them as well, would have been a far superior option over what I scared up myself. Highly recommended!

We had an absolutely amazing tour with Biofan! Jose Martin knows everything there is to know about indigenous flora and fauna. We learned so much exploring the beautiful cacti forest of Tehuacan bioreserve with him. Hearing about the great work that Biofan does made us even more glad that we decided to choose them. It is really nice to know your payment is supporting the preservation and education around this important area. I cannot recommend them enough!

We recently had the opportunity of visiting the Tehuacan-Cuicatlan Biosphere and it was an experience that we won’t forget. The Tehuacan-Cuicatlan Valley is remarkable rich in well preserved natural and cultural features home of many plant species hard to find anywhere else. With the assistance of Mary Carmen planning the trip was easy and enjoyable. Jose Martin our tour guide was full of facts and interesting anecdotes making our trip a learning and...
