Open field with lots of grass and an open horizon. The portions near the River Cam are especially beautiful. You can walk by the River and watch people canoeing. Near the Victoria bridge there are benches between large shady trees and long grasses. You kind of feel like you are in an opening of a forested area even though you aren’t. The benches have memorial plaques on them to the late of us who also loved this beautiful spot in cambridge. True luxury and relaxation. I keep coming back.

Spring is best time to go to it but it's fun to go sit on in summer too. Cows are mostly friendly and good with dogs, most dogs on the common are friendly too. Lots of nice buttercups in spring and nice pubs nearby. The fair ruins it every year though so avoid it in summer if your not going to the fair and avoid it at night in summer and if you have a dog. 😭 Otherwise nice to go sit on or for a dog walk.

Great bit of land, graze my children here daily, grass has some great nutritional value and highly affordable. It feels great to run your balls across the field it tickles them in just the right way. Try to ignore the onlookers they're a bunch haters. Pic related.

Lovely walk alongside the cam into the north of town at bridge Street.

Can start near Grafton centre for breakfast or coffee and finish at the wine bar on bridge Street.

Not much in the way of trees, flowers or display but the traffic along the water in the form of canoes , punts and so on is very scenic

Area often hosts bonfire night and other events. Very close to some great bars like the Tivoli

Parking would be best at Grafton east I think which is easy to navigate and is fairly...

Nice, wide open space next to the river, so great place to get outdoors with the family and plenty of space to enable social distancing, etc.

There are recreation playgrounds, a skate park, bathrooms and pathways in all directions to go where ever you need afterwards. It is only 10-15 minutes walk from the city centre.

No dedicated parking as such but plenty of nearby roads. However, recmend taking a bus or cycling so you don't have to worry about parking

Once pubs are allowed to...

Midsummer Common is beautiful. Lovely large open green area to waltz through at your own pace. Great for dogs to play or friends to sit around and chill. On this occasion we were here for Strawbwrry Fair...it is ok during the day but as the evening kicks in becomes a breeding ground for drunk and stoned people of all ages and backgrounds to just make a mess of themselves. It is free entry (luckily) so at least you don't waste your money, unless of course you buy the most overpriced foods...
