Came in with my girlfriend, we were not planning on coming in but the nice looking outside and an appetising menu caught my eye. Upon entry we were nicely welcome by a waitering staff who offered one of the tables near the door. This kind of put me off, as these tables were very cramped and with the resturant being fairly empty I didn't want to be put next to another couple. Fortunately, one of the managers stepped and in offered us the booth, this was more perfect. It took around 8 minutes for the waiter to take our order but we were not in a rush so we did not mind. We did not order anything too complicated, 2 classic burgers, both medium and a coke. However, we strictly asked for no onions in one. We then waited around 20 minutes for our food, which is quite normal in a resturant, however, our mains arrived before the drinks. The mains were brought over by a young lady who then asked about our drinks. We then told her that we had not received them and she quickly came back with them. The burgers look extremely appealing and seemed well cooked, unfortunately... Both burgers had onions in, yet we strictly said one should be without. We attempted to get someone's attention but to no avail. Instead we were forced to just scrape the onions off manually. This was fairly disappointing as it seemed as if our total order was almost completely forgotten by the waiter. The same waiter that took our order for a check back, but we chose not to mention anything as we did not want to wait for another burger. Payment was fairly quick and easy with no real hassle, and we were nicely told "have a nice day" by the young waitress who solved our issue with the drinks. Overall, a very pleasent resturant, with a nice team of staff, they are well trained which shows strong management within the team. The food was delicious regardless of the onion issue, so my compliments to the chefs. The only downsides were from the waiters mistake on our drinks and onion request. A nice menu and a good price, seems family freindly and a great place for a...
Read moreI recently visited Byron in Cambridge with my family. The burgers were tasty, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The staff even gave crayons to the kids, which was a nice touch.
However, our experience took a disappointing turn when it came time to pay the bill. Our meal cost £46, and I wanted to pay with a £50 note. To my surprise, the staff informed me they do not accept £50 notes. I would have been perfectly fine with this if there had been any clear signage or notice indicating this policy, but there wasn't.
Instead, they insisted I leave the restaurant to break the note elsewhere. I disagreed with this request, but they were firm. The staff member who called the manager seemed uncomfortable with the situation, but the manager was inflexible and refused to accept the £50 note. In the end, I was forced to pay by card, which was inconvenient for me.
Overall, while the food and atmosphere were great, the payment policy and customer service regarding this issue left a bad impression. A simple sign about their cash policy would have avoided this...
Read moreFrom my perspective, this place has everything right for a good eating experience. Personally however I think the taste of the food can improve, at least for the 2 items I tried.
Salted Carmel shake: I really enjoy trying milkshakes from every restaurant I go. I could not taste the salted caramel flavor in this one. It seemed like an ordinary vanilla with some caramel swirls. If you truly love salted caramel icecream this may not meet your expectations
Southern soul with a Brooklyn bite: Some sandwiches are so tasty that even if sold at the side of the street without marketing people will seek it out just from word of mouth. My experience of this sandwich was that it looked better than it tasted. The chicken didn't taste hot and fresh. It was a bit chewy vs juicy. It seemed mostly like an ordinary chicken sandwich with dressing you may add yourself (honey glaze and a spicy mayo dressing). Overall, from my perspective, it lacked a distinctive taste.
That aside I would try some of the other menu items as I enjoyed the service...
