As a non Russian/Romanian/Moldovian speaker getting around and about in Moldova could be difficult. Luckily for me my spouse is a local and managed to get a hold of the museums English speaking guide, Andrei Fiodorov. An absolutely fantastic and knowledgeable guy. Top it of with a lot of rich history I have never heard of or touched, comming from a western country myself. A trip to the National History Museum of Moldova is a must for anyone with some degree of interest in history. If you visit just come super early and don’t interact with...

Our small group of men from the UK was intimidated by the mafia a few times (such as walking past me and deliberately knocking into me or taking my beer in front of me in a restaurant while the whole restaurant laughed. It was very funny.) and warned by the local women to leave or else the mafia would hurt us. We left. I had a Moldovan colleague at work here in the UK in 2020 and he said the situation has not improved for the population of Moldova. I wish the people of Moldova, apart from the mafia and the corrupt government, all the best...
