Excellent museum. Unique and varied attractions e.g. the rooms themselves are beautiful and worth the price of admission. There’s even an old fashioned diorama room that includes thunder and lighting — so cool! We visited many museums during our 3 week trip to 6 countries and this was my favorite. The staff were very helpful in pointing the optimal route through the museum. The exhibits are extremely well done and it helped us that much of the info was presented in English e.g. helpful explanations were available on take away sheets in each room that you can grab and read as you walk the room. The well presented collection of artifacts including ancient items was amazing in quality and quantity. Stunning stuff. Everyone involved should be so proud of this museum. Don’t miss the fun “wheat blowing in the wind” art as you walk one of the rooms, kids might love that (yes, me too). Don’t be put off if some of the hosts or cashier seem solemn initially, they are all real nice and maybe leery of approaching non-native speakers. Do see the well guarded treasures in the basement which could be overlooked as could the exhibit on darker times in Moldova. Easy to get here once in Chisinau and great value. Highly...

The building is very nice but in poor condition. Some of the exhibits were missing even though they were listed on the showcases. The exhibition about mass deportations needs to be improved because there are no English translation and sometimes you can't even find Romanian translation because the posters are written in Russian. Also the Russian staff was not very hospitable when i wanted to visit the temporary exhibition at 17:30 even though the program was until 6 o'clock and on the ticket you can find written "available all day". They asked me why i showed up so late, from where did i bought my ticket and they stayed in front of the door and would not let me enter. This were the only problems i could understand they had with me because they were mostly speaking in Russian. After i managed to enter the temporary exhibition one of the staff member was following me closely and was turning off the lights, sometimes even in the same room with me. I never found this kind of rude personnel in a museum before. You can find a lot of very interesting things about Moldova in this museum but they have a very poor...

One of if not the best museum i've ever been to. You do have to pay extra to take pictures and videos but its still really cheap. Only about 2 euros total! Pretty big and tons of stuff on display. All super nicely and clearly arranged in time chronological order (stone age to modern day) Everything is in English, Romanian and Russian so everyone can understand what a object is! Its all very clean and kept in good condition. There are tours but we didnt take one. Just wish you could play the piano's ;]

There's an aweosme display of Stefan the Great's sword! And it is quite sad to see the period of soviet union and moldova trying to be independent.. not a lot of people know about this sadly, especially the gulags. Everyone knows auschwitz but these were way worse.. But it was very nicely displayed and well detailed. Really...

The Museum accommodated is very beautiful building. There isn't any person speaks English so I don't know but the administration should to improve the service. I came across groups of students from the city, apparently instead of a history lesson the children were taken to the history museum. It was very noisy, especially from those students who were bored. Another thing that struck me was that the 7th century is almost not discussed. Thy focus over to refuting Russian propaganda. Otherwise, if it is quiet, the place is worth it and it is quite cheap - only €2.5. I definitely recommend the place because many people didn't know that Moldova was separated from Romania. Many people don't know that Moldova was a principality and is not Russia.

The National Museum is a fantastic place to visit if you are interested in Moldova's history. The prices are 20 lei (approx £1) per person, and if you wish to take photos, then it is an additional 15 lei. Each room is dedicated to different times throughout history, as said by others. The most (and sobering) room was about the history of the gulag, although sadly whilst we were there not many people wanted to go in and read about what had happened. The gift shop is interesting a varied, there are the usual bits and bobs, but also things like funko pops and manga of all things. Would recommend, and don't miss out on the wolf statue out the front and the interestingly shaped helicopter around the side.
