This is a small but very cozy and easy to navigate museum. The collection is not big, but it is better this way because you can see the whole collection in less than two hours. There is a whole floor, dedicated to paint work by Moldavian and Romanian painters. There is also a lot of oil paint works produced by European painters. The funny thing is that majority of those paintings have no author. Here I’m talking about middle ages paintings. The selection of sculptures is extremely low. I get it that it’s a small country with low population, but this election is still too minimal and few.

Inform yourself well before entering

I arrived and asked where to ask for the tickets and the lady, very rudely points with her finger where it says “casa” , which was in that place, I ask her for a ticket and advance. When I start taking pictures, a very hurried lady appears and asks me for the photo ticket, I asked what ticket she was referring to and I say that I did not know that I would have to buy a special ticket just for photos, she laughs in my face and says not to be a liar. I repeat that I didn't know and she continues to literally call me a Liar.

I asked to be accompanied to the ticket office so that the ticket office lady could confirm that she had not informed me, which was confirmed, I was asked for 15 more leis, of which I only had 10 leis with me. I had to leave and not see the museum due to lack of information, education and unprofessionalism of the workers. It's not about the money at all but about the attitude. Maybe if they hadn't had the rude attitude they had I would have gone to ATM and re-enter but I lost the will to visit the museum.

Perhaps it would be better to put the ticket at 25 lei or a price list at the entrance so that people could inform themselves.

Maybe in 1 or 2 years I will visit my home country again and I will want to know more about the art culture and history, I hope to find more human and...

This review will be a little like a list, as there is so much to get across to the intrepid traveller who makes it to this location.

The front entrance is not so well marked. A pair of ornate dark wooden doors, always closed. I walked past three times until I realised this was it. Give the right hand one a good push! Be prepared to be mobbed if you do not speak Russian or Romanian. Five older women rushed up to me, stern faced, determined I spoke English, roped in a very young English speaking colleague to help me. The ticket desk is to the left in the lobby. Entrance is about 40p equivalent. A photo license is another 60p. The building has been immaculately kept. The central staircase is magnificent. The toilets are on the first floor at the rear of the building. They are excellent! The stand-outs are the ceramics on the lobby, the statuary in the basement and some of the modern art collection in the funny extension, accessible from the first floor left side corridor. The road outside is basically a dirt trench (no traffic, but some parked cars) , so be very careful if you need to cross it, if you are...
