Sveti Stefan Beach is truly one of Montenegro's most beautiful spots. With its iconic island view, crystal-clear waters, and picturesque surroundings, it's perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and especially for watching breathtaking sunsets.
Getting there is easy: From Budva center, it's just a 15-20 minute drive. If you prefer public transport, buses run frequently (every 15 minutes) and cost only 2.5 euros per person - just remember to bring cash as cards aren't accepted.
The beach has two distinct sides. The left side features a stony shoreline, while the right side has a mix of sand and pebbles - this is where you'll get the best sunset views. I highly recommend renting an umbrella (15 euros) as shade can be limited during peak hours.
For dining options, walk up the stairs near the beach to reach the road above. Just 5 minutes away you'll find several excellent restaurants serving fresh seafood and local Montenegrin dishes.
Helpful tips: Arrive early in peak season to secure a good spot Water shoes are useful due to some rocky areas Don't forget cash for buses and beach amenities

The water gets deep immediately which is a nightmare for young kids.
After clambering over rocks and stones, we eventually found a beach bed and umbrella (€25 one row back) and then had to contend with rather large rocks to get in to the sea- it was quite wavy and the stones were moving underfoot. It was fully dangerous. I managed to get in, rest of the family couldn’t. And the reward when you do get in is dirty water (sewage?)
We had to use the shower to keep cool, had an ice cream and left after an hour. Waste of a day. Regretting leaving Croatia.
Most of these reviews are misleading (for me!) if this is the best of the balkans then the balkans ain’t for me! If it was really cheap I’d at least feel like I’m getting a deal, but it’s top dollar stuff- many better places/countries to spend your money.
