St. Sava Church

Saint Sava stayed here in the13th century then he sailed to Palestina from Budva port. I would like to say something about who and how the Church was built. Local population raised the church in gratitude to Saint Sava because he stoped the epidemic and the pestilence of children. Two hundred years ago the Pastrovici were hit by the scarlet fever which took children's lives. One day fishermans saw St. Sava at the sea and the Saint told them that the pestilence will be stopped and that they should raise St. Dimitrije church. You can drive up to the church and easily get out and check it out. There is a bit of a bumpy and unpaved road right before you get there. There also is no bathroom at all. I went for a wedding ceremony in the afternoon, which was beautiful. If you plan to do the same, you may want to be aware of where the guests are facing or the time of day, the sun was directly in the eyes of guests during the ceremony so many were having a hard time seeing. I visited St. Sava Church and it is definitely worth a visit. The road leading to it is not in the best condition and requires some care, but once you arrive, you are welcomed by peace and tranquility. The church has a unique spiritual atmosphere, though it is sometimes locked. What truly makes the place special is the breathtaking view from the plateau.
