The museum is housed in the historic Former Monastery of San Francisco, which adds a unique charm to the visit. The organization of the exhibits is very good, making it easy to follow the historical timeline and understand the context of each artifact. Here some highlights for me: 1. Archaeological and Historical Exhibits: The museum showcases a rich collection of artifacts, including sculptures, ceramics, weapons, paintings, and clothing from the Querétaro region. These exhibits provide a deep dive into the history and culture of the area, particularly focusing on the Otomi and Chichimeca ethnic groups. 2. COST: 90 pesos WORTH IT RATING: 6/10 The actual building that this museum is in, is an old convent several hundred years old. The architecture and the inner courtyard with a fountain are stunning and the best part of the visit. You can capture beautiful photos here. The information in the museum is ALL in Spanish, and very information heavy. If you speak Spanish, and enjoy large blocks of text, then this could be an enjoyable experience for you. It would take several hours to go through the entire museum and read everything. If you are fine with just walking around and perusing the old artifacts, clothing, and paintings, it could also be somewhat interesting. I felt the museum had a lot of potential and a lot of interesting info that i would have liked to learn, but the large quantities of text in Spanish made it feel overwhelming and dissatisfying.

El Museo Regional de Querétaro se encuentra ubicado en el centro histórico de la ciudad capital del estado de Querétaro, Santiago de Querétaro, en lo que se conocía como el antiguo Convento Grande de San Francisco. El inmueble es una construcción del siglo xvi, de los años de 1540 y 1550, catalogada como una de las más significativas en la república mexicana, debido a su función religiosa y promoción de la cultura. Este Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad representó un eje en el espacio urbano de la entidad, pues por aproximadamente dos siglos albergó a la Provincia de San Pedro y San Pablo de Michoacán. Posteriormente, a inicios del siglo xvii el convento se amplió y pasó a reconocerse como un conjunto religioso evangelizador, en un contexto virreinal de estructuras económicas, políticas y sociales que caracterizaron a este período. Entre 1855 y 1922, durante la Guerra de Reforma, en el año de 1879, una parte de su fachada fue alterada, debido a la demolición de diversas capillas, tras haber sido Catedral de la ciudad queretana. Así, el 4 de diciembre de 1928 bajo la dirección del Gobierno del Estado, se determinó su función como un Museo de Arte Religioso Colonial, acompañado de una Escuela destinada a las artes y los oficios. Para 1936, con apoyo e iniciativa de Germán Patiño, se llevaron a cabo trabajos con la finalidad de proteger el patrimonio estatal, abriendo sus puertas como Museo Regional y desde 1939 el recinto pasó a ser administrado federalmente, formando parte del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia.
