Las Deliciosas Gorditas del Portal — Restaurant in Querétaro

This is a popular restaurant in the downtown area. It serves gorditas with an array of fillings available. Service is pretty good, and the staff is nice. When you walk in, you see them preparing and making the food. There's a good amount of seating available, as there is a second floor balcony.

This was the first time I've eaten these, since they contain meat. I'll be honest, I was a little confused because I choose the filling, which for me was potatoes and guacamole, and I thought that was the only filling, but it includes meat. They took about 40minutes to bring our order. I always thought gorditas came with food inside. It’s as if it was one thick tortilla. Their very few diced potatoes inside my gordita not to mention the potatoes were raw. I told the waiter to bring me just a plain bean and cheese, you’d think the beans were worth diamonds...a smear of beans. Me recomendaron el lugar y pues me animé a ir. Pará comenzar la atención es buena, desde la entrada hasta tu mesa todo es excelente. Ordenas y hay una gran variedad de antojitos mexicanos, claro basados en platillos con masa de maíz. Pedí una gordita, ya que es lo tradicional ahí. Uno sopes con carne, la cual estaba super suave, solo le faltaba un poco de sal pero de verdad una carne muy muy suave. Lo malo es que terminas comiendo con tenedor y cuchillo, ya que su masa no es consistente y no aguanta los ingredientes húmedos, terminan deshaciendo se y de sopes pasan a convertirse en chilaquiles. El café de olla tiene buen sabor, nunca me llevaron mas azúcar y terminé tomándolo sin ella. No especifican que los refresco son de lata y no a todos nos gustan La gordita o más bien flaquita, pues muy insípida y también se remoja toda. Te dan salsita verde, solo hervida, no le agregan nada que llame la atención en ella, muy simple. Las gringas son de bistec, muy suave también pero sin sal. El lugar está muy, muy encerrado, el humo y el aroma a aceite quemado impregna el lugar y la ropa, no puedes evitar salir oliendo a grasa. La atención del personal si es excelente. Los precios pues para pobres, no son. Los refrescos son exageradamente caros, casi 30 pesos una lata. Un jarro de café de olla también casi 30, pero lo peor ahí son sus jarros, el mío estaba ya todo cuarteado y con café viejo entre las cuarteaduras, deberían de cuidar mas el buen estado de sus utensilios. Una cuenta de solo dos bebidas, una gordita, unos sopes y una gringa, es de más de 200 pesos. Asi que si tu presupuesto es muy limitado y tu hambre mucha, no entres, es algo...
